Holiday wish list... wanna join in?

Nov 29, 2008 21:47

I got this from shepsangel , not sure if it started there or not... but I thought it was a good idea and a good way to make someone happy at lease in a small way this holiday season. With the economy and junk the way it is, I figure even the smallest gesture could mean loads to someone.
If you wanna join in on spreading the holiday joy, please do!

Well I can tell you how to do a link for starters. I don't know how it works in rich text posts, because I don't use that feature, but in html you go:

[a href="www.yourlink.com"]Blah link text blah[/a] But change the [square brackets] into arrow ones <>

(Sorry for the edit, it was being a cow and coding the text even with the *'s in there. lol)

According to the LJ FAQ "If you are using the Rich Text Editor, you will need to type the link text first (site or username). Then, select that text and click the appropriate toolbar button (Insert/Edit Link or LiveJournal User) to generate the link."

Hope it helps! :D

Oh, hey, posting about #2 reminded me. http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html Allows you to ignore region coding on dvds on yopur pc, but when I was looking for the url I saw that it supposedly ignores copy-protection on cds, just in case you have that problem again. Dunno if it works, but there's a free trial.

Oh awesome! Thank you! I'll be nabbing that for sure! :) Copy Protection on a CD I legally bought just make my head hurt!

Is it a trial version or is the program freeware?

Edit: LOL! Just noticed it's on your comment. Ignore me for I am sleepy! :P

Thanks again!

Hey, I'll email you my address in a sec.

As for #2, I use Handbrake, which is available on both Mac and Windows, and is free!
http://handbrake.fr/

Also, if you're on a PC, there's a great little program, AnyDVD, which forces your pc dvd drive to ignore region coding. It's not free, but at only EUR 50 it's well worth it if you often buy dvds from overseas.

Hey there! I actually have some Atlantis trading cards that I really do absolutely nothing with. The thing is, they're sitting in a drawer back home, and I won't be going home till Christmas. So if you're willing to wait for a while, I can get you them. :)

Now you've made me want to go watch SG1/SGA so I can write you a hurt/comfort fic. And it looks like we're in different fandoms, too. I'll just have to figure something out!

it's ok that we're in different fandoms. What's the fun in getting to know new people if every one of them likes the same things I do? :)
Besides... this is about giving :) I like to give!

I could swim in hurt/comfort for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy! But there's no need for you to watch 4 3/4 seasons of a show to write me a fic :)

I'll send you an email with some non fandom things if you like... most of the things on my list are SGA related in one way or another :)

To link to something, type:

This is a link to an example website

Just add a space between 'a' and 'href'. :D
