Chapter 2 [Commentlog]

Sep 06, 2011 14:52

[Tumnus has been quiet over the journals save for the occasional response to a handful of people. However, the faun has not been doing nothing during his time here. no, he's been getting to know the lay of the land, as it were, and has been spending a good portion of his day outside the Keep walls rather than inside ( Read more... )

[Kumatz makes less noise walking than a cat slithering across grass, enjoying the comfort of the outdoors minus three layers of clothing. Water, in her humble opinion, has no business falling out of the sky unless it rains.

Dipping to let her small viper out of her skin to explore the vast green, she takes her time, seeing no reason to interrupt. It's been a long while since she's heard proper music.]

[Tumnus continues to play his pipes, although he is aware he is no longer alone. There is no specific thing Kumatz does to alert the faun to her presence, but he is aware although not of whom until he turn his blue-grey eyes in her direction.

His melody never halts and he seems entirely unperturbed by the slowly shifting form of her snake as it weaves through the greenery near him, although he had not seen where it appeared from.

It's only when the tune reaches it natural ending that he lowers the pipes from his lips and rises to his cloven hooves and offers her a proper waist bow.]

My lady ..

[She smiles at him, lips curling to reveal a neat row of strong white teeth.

These notions the men of the Keep have of deference are charming, she thinks. Brothel workers are sought for many different things, but it's not for their wisdom that they are respected.]

Please, halfling. I am no lady.

[If not for Dos' earworms she could not understand Tumnus. If he has also submitted to the worm, he should understand her. If not, well, now he knows so.]

[Tumnus had been lucky enough to have a worm introduced to his ear, although the process had been altogether perplexing and .. disarming. However, the creature was rather marvelous and he could not deny the benefits of being able to understand those unable to speak the common tongue.

Tumnus rises smoothly, returning her grin with an easy one of his own. He recognizes that voice, even if he's never seen the maid before.]

Alas, gentle maiden, but all of the fairer sex find themselves anointed thus ..

[His ears flick forward slightly as he continues, his pipes held in one hand.]

We have spoken before, I think .. although I do not believe I had the pleasure of your name ..

[Hearing a rather sad tune that pulled at something deeply inside her heart, Chloe changes her direction to inspect wherever the sound was coming from. It was eerily beautiful, if nothing else, and surely if someone was playing such a tune it was someone Chloe wanted to meet.]

Hello?

[She calls out softly, not wanting to interrupt but also wishing to make her presence known. She would certainly be jumpy if someone happened upon her unawares. Then she sees the fellow who is playing on the reeds and a soft gasp escapes. She stops, watching quietly as his music fills and surrounds her.]

[Tumnus never looks up from his playing, although he notes Chloe's call as she draws near. It's not until she gasps that he looks over at her and smiles, lips lifting from the reed pipes.]

Do not fear, child, for I mean the least amount of harm to you possible.

[He gestures toward the log nearest him.]

Sit and listen for a spell?

[Clearly interested, Chloe hesitates only a bit before she slowly approaches him, sitting where he indicated.]

You play often?

[Tumnus' smile never slips, his expression softening as the girl moves to sit on the log near him. His ears flick forward at her question and he absently hooks one hoof over the other, sitting comfortably as he nods.]

A good porton of my life, really .. It's one thing common to all fauns, no matter the tale I'm told. I, myself, have been playing for nearly two hundred years .. I learned early in my childhood.

[For a creature that looks to be not even thirty years of age, he looks damn fine for his age, doesn't he? :D]

[Bobby's not going to pull the faun from his thoughts. Or at least, he hopes he's not.

He'd been out jogging when he heard the music, and, naturally, he'd gotten curious. He walks up quietly, and pauses a bit a way, not wanting to disturb him.

The song is beautiful, if sad. He just wants to listen.]

Not at all! I responsed to Bobby in the party post .. let's consider that they met well enough here. faun_tumnus September 9 2011, 20:42:13 UTC
[Tumnus hears Bobby's approach, but the only motion he makes in the boy's direction thus far is an attentive flick of the ear.

He continues to weave his song, playing for the plants and animals at the forest's edge. The tune is haunting and magical, but unless directly aimed at Bobby, he should not fall victim to its magic.

The song comes to its end and Tumnus lowers the pipes, glancing over at Bobby.]

Hello.

Works for me! :D mister_10_below September 9 2011, 23:31:54 UTC
[When Bobby's approach doesn't seem to bother the faun, he relaxes slightly, leaning against a tree at the forest's edge.

The music keeps going, and Bobby tilts his head to listen, getting caught up on the melody. When the song ends, he straightens a bit, smiling at the greeting.]

Hi! That was really pretty.

You didn't mind me listening, did you?

[Bobby figures he probably would've stopped, if he had, but it doesn't hurt to check.]

[Tumnus chuckles and shakes his head, rising and stretching as he does so. He looks like he could just be six or seven years older than Bobby, ten years at most.]

My many thanks, Son of Adam. I do not mind in the least, actually .. I rather enjoy an audience that seems receptive.

[And indeed he would have, should he have been actually bothered by it.]
