[Tumnus has been quiet over the journals save for the occasional response to a handful of people. However, the faun has not been doing nothing during his time here. no, he's been getting to know the lay of the land, as it were, and has been spending a good portion of his day outside the Keep walls rather than inside ( Read more... )

[Kumatz makes less noise walking than a cat slithering across grass, enjoying the comfort of the outdoors minus three layers of clothing. Water, in her humble opinion, has no business falling out of the sky unless it rains.

Dipping to let her small viper out of her skin to explore the vast green, she takes her time, seeing no reason to interrupt. It's been a long while since she's heard proper music.]

[Tumnus continues to play his pipes, although he is aware he is no longer alone. There is no specific thing Kumatz does to alert the faun to her presence, but he is aware although not of whom until he turn his blue-grey eyes in her direction.

His melody never halts and he seems entirely unperturbed by the slowly shifting form of her snake as it weaves through the greenery near him, although he had not seen where it appeared from.

It's only when the tune reaches it natural ending that he lowers the pipes from his lips and rises to his cloven hooves and offers her a proper waist bow.]

My lady ..

[She smiles at him, lips curling to reveal a neat row of strong white teeth.

These notions the men of the Keep have of deference are charming, she thinks. Brothel workers are sought for many different things, but it's not for their wisdom that they are respected.]

Please, halfling. I am no lady.

[If not for Dos' earworms she could not understand Tumnus. If he has also submitted to the worm, he should understand her. If not, well, now he knows so.]

[Tumnus had been lucky enough to have a worm introduced to his ear, although the process had been altogether perplexing and .. disarming. However, the creature was rather marvelous and he could not deny the benefits of being able to understand those unable to speak the common tongue.

Tumnus rises smoothly, returning her grin with an easy one of his own. He recognizes that voice, even if he's never seen the maid before.]

Alas, gentle maiden, but all of the fairer sex find themselves anointed thus ..

[His ears flick forward slightly as he continues, his pipes held in one hand.]

We have spoken before, I think .. although I do not believe I had the pleasure of your name ..

[He just keeps going and going. Kumatz covers her mouth with one hand, making a noise like she's trying to stifle a fit of throaty giggles.

'Maid'.

HA.]

Kumatz u Alom. Unless you would rather I call you half-man or some variation thereof, I would much like to know yours.

[Oh, he's full of prose, Kumatz. He notes the barely stifled giggles and cants a brow. He was well aware of where their previous conversation was going and, as a faun, was no stranger to such things. Even so, a lady was a lady was a lady in the eyes of the young faun.

But her humor touched a smile across his own lips as his teeth flashed briefly in a wide grin.]

A pleasure to be certain, Kumatz u Alom .. My name is Tumnus, a faun and companion and advisor to the Kings and Queens of Narnia.

[It wasn't a boast, nor did it sound at all like one. It was simply said for what it was.]

[It's not a boast to her, especially taking into account that kings and queens mean no more than generic citizen Joe. Only important people have companions and advisors -- for the most part -- so she plays along, bowing in unabashed mimicry.]

I am certain we are very honored by your presence here.
