Maternity clothes- sources?

Howdy! It appears I'm about to be in the market for maternity clothes. I went hunting through the tags, and it seems the last post on the subject was a couple of years ago. To update on that, it seems that Old Navy doesn't have maternity in Plus anymore (did it ever?), Lane Bryant doesn't anymore (nor do its sister stores), Torrid doesn't; JC ( Read more... )

I found some stuff last year online at simply be. I'm a 26/28 and I fit into the maternity stuff comfortably. They don't have suits or at least I don't remember any but they do have some dresses that might work. Also, I was surprised how long I was able to stay in my non-maternity clothes. So you may be able to make some of the stuff you already have work for longer than you would think.

I completely forgot about Simply Be! Thank you!

I'm hoping my current clothes will work for a good long while, but I want to have some emergency backup resources, too. :)

I used the belly bands and loved them. I got away with not needing any maternity clothes because of the belly band.

Where did you get your belly band from? Are there different ones for plus-size?

Yeah, I wore a belly band basically every day as soon as I started to show, and they did a great job of filling in the gap as my tops got shorter due to the bump. I basically wore ordinary stretch tops the whole time, and only switched into maternity jeans in the last couple of months.

I'm almost 20 weeks and I've been struggling to find maternity clothes! I'm definitely interested in what resources folks have found. I feel like I'm set for the next few weeks while it's still summer weather and I can wear my regular summer dresses but come the fall I'll need some more pants. I'm a size 18 and oddly find myself an "in-betweenie" in Motherhood pants - the XL is just slightly too small and the 1x pants are super saggy in the butt and thighs. For tops, I've had good luck just sizing up in some plus size tops but this might change as I continue to grow ( ... )

Most of the time, the straight-size xl or xxls end up being too tight around the arms- but still worth a shot!

I'm definitely hitting up the thrift/resale stores soon, too!

It's sounding like I might be able to get away with my regular wardrobe for a good long while, if I get some longer shirts and a belly band. Good to know- pants are expensive!

I had luck at JC Penney - got a pair of Duo maternity black trousers and trouser jeans with the reallly wide elastic top that kept me going the whole way to delivery. I also opted for the longer tunic tops/ sweater dresses and thick leggings scenario, along with a coat from Chadwicks 2 sizes larger than my usual size so I could button it up all the way. I also got a couple of t-shirt tunic things from Gap Maternity XXL that worked well. I also got a couple of cute things at Maternity through one of their outlet stores - my daughter is 2 and a half and I still wear the cardigan and t-shirt I bought there!

Oh hey there! I am in your exact predicament as well so I am definitely interested in this post.

Also, I glanced at Target yesterday and they seemed to have a decent maternity section at least at the huge one near me. I am hoping to pick up some things that are on sale. Maybe some jersey stuff in bigger sizes from their plus section would be good. Especially as I will be at my biggest in the very early spring and will need some things to work for lots of different weather. I am mostly worried about winter and my typical student wardrobe of jeans starting to not fit, though.

I wish you well on your journey!
