Maternity clothes- sources?

Howdy! It appears I'm about to be in the market for maternity clothes. I went hunting through the tags, and it seems the last post on the subject was a couple of years ago. To update on that, it seems that Old Navy doesn't have maternity in Plus anymore (did it ever?), Lane Bryant doesn't anymore (nor do its sister stores), Torrid doesn't; JC ( Read more... )

I'm almost 20 weeks and I've been struggling to find maternity clothes! I'm definitely interested in what resources folks have found. I feel like I'm set for the next few weeks while it's still summer weather and I can wear my regular summer dresses but come the fall I'll need some more pants. I'm a size 18 and oddly find myself an "in-betweenie" in Motherhood pants - the XL is just slightly too small and the 1x pants are super saggy in the butt and thighs. For tops, I've had good luck just sizing up in some plus size tops but this might change as I continue to grow.

I did buy a plus size belly band at Motherhood and I like it. It works really well in holding up my unbuttoned pants although I still find any stiff fabric (like jeans with no stretch) to be too uncomfortable, even unzipped. For a few pairs of pants, I can still just put a hair rubber band in the waistline and still wear them comfortably.

Anyway, I'm frustrated at the lack of choices for maternity clothes. I did go to a "mother/child" resale shop and didn't expect to find any plus sizes but there were a few items, which I was pleased about. I was able to buy one pair of jeans there, although I haven't been able to wear them yet because I'll need them hemmed.

Since you are smaller on top, you might be able to fit some xl maternity tops from Target. I didn't think they would work for me but a friend gave me some of her hand me down t-shirts and they fit with some room to grow.

Most of the time, the straight-size xl or xxls end up being too tight around the arms- but still worth a shot!

I'm definitely hitting up the thrift/resale stores soon, too!

It's sounding like I might be able to get away with my regular wardrobe for a good long while, if I get some longer shirts and a belly band. Good to know- pants are expensive!
