Fashion Bug is closing

Jun 16, 2012 10:33

I went to FB yesterday as I have a swimsuit on layaway there, and I learned that all stores will be closing by or at the end of the year. So we're losing one of the few brick and mortar stores that actually carries clothes up to size 30 ( Read more... )

I'm sad on principle that Fashion Bug is closing because they have good sales online, but there's not a brick-and-mortar within 100 miles of me.

For those who can't be bothered to read, it mentions that the company that bought Charming Shoppes also owns Maurice's and Dress Barn, so I'm wondering if that means they're willing to expand Maurice's further into the US to compensate for dissolving FB. I also wonder if this means another huge aesthetic change at Lane Bryant, because that's what happened when Charming Shoppes bought them from The Limited.

Hopefully it means a big change for LB coming soon! I am sick to death of all their clothes. I haven't bought anything from there in a while because I am so bored with everything they have. Not sure if their clothes really suck now or if me no longer living in NYC and having access to that big LB has changed things. Either way - blah.

I hope so too because their clothes have bored the shit out of me for the last 4 or 5 years, not to mention their sizing changed every other week. And don't get me started on the price hikes to be more "boutique-like". UGH.

So it isn't my imagination that they have had the same exact styles for the last 5 years, just in different colors?!

What in living fuck? :( I love Fashion Bug! They carry jeans that make me look like a rock star!

Sigh. Time to buy up what I can, I guess.

This is... Really annoying. I never seem to find anything at DressBarn that fits me properly--it's always smaller or larger than it needs to be--not to mention the ones in my area have this absurd fascination with only carrying polyester.

I am Not Pleased with this.

Guess it's time for an all-day shopping quest for me.

"absurd fascination with only carrying polyester. " Ugh yes. Though I admit, if I ever have an event I need to get a pretty and somewhat cheap ( under $50 ) dress for it's normally where I get it.

I want to hug your icon. =) I just picked up four thick books at the library today, including a MASSIVE bio of Alexander Hamilton that I'm carrying around like a favorite child. Why, oh, why are dead people so interesting?

WTF is it with designers who think fat people only want to wear synthetics? Do they think we want to sweat and stink? Or are we just not worthy of the good fabrics? Polyester has its place, but that place is NOT my body!

I couldn't tell from the article - does anyone know if the FB website will remain, or are they closing that, too?

I hate to say it but I think all Avenue stores are closing too, since the one in Olympia is in the middle of a closing clearance sale.

They're closing the flagship Avenue store in Saddle Brook, NJ. And the one in my town looks like they're completely redesigning the store. That's the only Avenue in the area that's closing.

These two articles literally made me cry. Fashion Bug and Avenue are the only brick-and-mortar stores near me that sell clothes that fit me (and they're not in my city, they're a few cities over, there's nothing in my city), much less clothes that I like.

Whoever bought that company, I hate them. That's all, really.
