Assuming you are not looking for actual bike shorts for bike riding (or maybe even if you are) I'm in love with teggings: http://www.redressnyc.com/teggings-411/

I really like these:

I've had a pair of these now for three years and they wear like iron. They still look brand new despite wearing them two times a week for 20 to 40 mile bike rides. I bought a pair of the "Terry" brand and they lasted one month before the fabric pulled and finally got a hole. I'm almost your exact same measurements and the 3x capris fit me great.

Awesome, thank you for the recommendation. I'm glad to know the quality on those is good, I'd be bummed to spend the money on them and have them die. It sounds like we do a similar amount of biking =)

I am a huge Terry fan. I've shopped through Team Estrogen several times and have had no issues. I even have a Team Estrogen sticker on the window of my car!

Try AeroTech Designs: http://www.aerotechdesigns.com/pluswoman.htm#capri. I've tried a couple of their padded bike shorts and like them so far - I particularly liked the fact that I could try out shorts for $35 and $45 - it felt like an acceptable risk to take on an unknown brand. No major complaints, though I'd like a slightly tighter waist-band (but I'm a bit more apple-y in the middle so no convenient waist/hip combo to keep things up).

I second Aero Tech Designs, I got some bike shorts without padding for gym and now I want some padded tights to wear cycling!

Also, men's shorts tend to have a longer inseam, I think. They're also more readily available in brick and mortar stores. It's one thing where I don't notice the difference, because the shorts are so stretchy and such. It's nice to able to just walk into a bike shop and find a pair. For what it's worth, I wear sz18/20W and buy men's xxl shorts.
