I have trouble getting too worked up about this because the MO of Maxim is to be offensive. I would be writing them every month if I read their magazine. This is one of those times I would advocate if you don't like it don't read it.

That slideshow is grist for a great paper on fatphobia.

They way they blurred out the faces is the real clincher for me.

Either way Maxim has never been one for any kind of empowerment of women, so I really can't get too mad. If that's what amuses these people then they can have fun being miserable individuals and I won't buy the magazine.

i agree with the person who said Maxim's MO is to be offensive. Doesn't make it better, but it is true. I think instead of writing to them, it would be better to write to people like Fergie and ask her why she's doing a cover and interview for such a place.

I don't purchase the magazine, but I do look at their website from time to time for stuff to post. I won't be doing that.

I do understand what people are saying, but at the same time, it's just, I don't know.

I'm with you. "They meant to be offensive" does not excuse the fact that they're purveyors of blatant fatphobia. Why on earth should someone be excused for nauseating, oppressive behavior because they intended it that way?
