We go through A LOT of soda--mostly diet and although we recycle our aluminum cans, I think this really might be a good economic alternative--especially as the kids get older and will eventually want to drink soda, too.

But that said, we completely love it. It really does its job, and you can get all different kinds of soda mixes, and they all come in diet. The orange is really good. The cola (we've just tried the diet caffeine free so far) tastes like regular knockoff soda.
We went with the package that had extra carafes (they're really pretty!) and although they haven't shipped the extras yet, they'll be really nice. The soda stays fizzy in them with their special lid, so we could easily make several at a go, and then have the different flavors in the fridge available to grab as easily as having cans.
We love it. You should get one!
