CARS FUCKING SUCK.

In what has come as NO SURPRISE WHATSOEVER my car is pretty much rooted - one of the cylinder head gaskets has blown and water has been flooding my engine. Also my radiator is somewhat buggered. Two different mechanics both gave me $800 - $1000 price ranges to fix the problems (and they haven't even given the car a general service, something ( Read more... )

that's a pretty impressive amount of damages caused. if you don't have a car, will we see you getting about on a BMX?

if it makes you feel any better my homocidal insanity level is 85%..hehe and i only kill americans...none of the mechanics you saw were american were they??;)
Cars dont play fair most times..but in our line of work are a must.. good luck with finding another i think is best to start again espeically paying that sort of money. Maybe after a few weeks on the lovely centrelink you can go for a loan with them.. they would just take it out of oyur benefits..worth a go

Brake pads are frickin easy to change and cheap to buy.
You can check tyres by putting a matchhead in the wear indicator (if you didn't know that already... and someone asked me how to inflate tyres the other day so I won't assume anything ever again). I wouldn't worry about the tyres though til you get the rest done.
Radiators aren't that hard to change, I could probably do it myself if I was less of a pussy. A head gasket you could fix yourself if you had help, except your engines probably (possibly) rooted from the water.. Or you could just sell the damn thing and get another car.
Neil (friend from NSW) put radiator stop leak in his head gasket and last I heard he was still driving his car around and it was fine, heh. I don't think that's the best idea tho :P
Anyway you should try to borrow Cameron's WRX :D

yes I want Cameron's WRX very much :) I am considering trying one of those stop-leak thingies but seriously the car is just too far gone... $1000 is just too much to spend on a 1985 Sigma that's done 180,000 km and only 6 months ago had $2000 spent on it just to get it roadworthy. I just have to face the fact that I lost money on it and move on. Without a car I will be able to save money pretty quickly (major source of expenditure gone) thanks to those wonderful lads at CENTRELINK so hopefully in about a year or so I'll have enough dough together to get me a loan and buy something like a 1994 Honda Legend Coupe.... mmmm, long and sleek cars for Dan

Like you'd get a Honda :PP Pieces of shite hehe :P
Hopefully I'll be getting either.. a Silvia.. not sure which one yet.. or maybe a Celica in September.. I want a Silvia but Celicas are cheaper/easier to fix.. blaaaaaah. I don't know :) I currently have an earlier version of a Silvia.. I want something more recent.
If you steal the WRX I want to have a drive :P
Did Cameron get married yet btw?

Mark my words there WILL be a Dan driving around in a Honda Legend... of course this might take some time. And how dare you call them pieces of shit when they have one of the world's best reliability levels... better than a Celica anyway :p Yeah Cameron got married to his girl Caroline... they both share the same birthdate, awww, isn't that sweet?
