It's to bad if the author didn't capture the character from the bible. Although they have more creative license using biblical characters than historical ones they still need to capture the original character if they do not wish to turn readers off that may be familiar with the biblical ones.
Never mind that David has at least two other wives; these are not mentioned in Burton's story. I bet Abigail's in for a surprise. i was drinking while reading this and had to slap my hand over my mouth to keep for spitting out my drink from laughing.
The book also has a few scenes of bodice-ripper-worthy romantic almost-couplings (it's a Christian book, after all) this made me giggle too.
apparently i'm really immature today. [and i have nothing really important to add, just that i'm enjoying these book reviews a lot!]
As someone who is very fussy about reading things in series order, but I think in this case, I'll definitely make an exception. All of your other reviews from this series have made me want to read the books, so I'm glad that you didn't start out with this one!
I love the idea of taking a very minor character and turning them into a protagonist of their own storybut I don't get forgetting that she is beautiful, and I don't think that this vaguely-romantic vaguely-Christian style of it is much to my taste.
I also don't get why virgin women are so essential in romance texts. *shrugs*

a series? that's actually a very impressive idea. It would require quite a bit of execution, though!
to get back to this particular book, well, thanks, and you make me curious. never had heard of ann burton, but i am well and truly stirred to see what sort of treatment she gives the situation in history of this woman.
