I think that it's HI-Larious that SACD killed off Holmes because he was tired of him,  but due to public outcry (fangirls) he brought him back.

Yeah Doyle pritty much hated Holms. Still haven't seen the movie but my mom is a huge Holms fan.

I think it is funny, as a modern reader, to read such open writting about main lining cocaine.

Doyle is such an interesting dude, I've enjoyed learning about him. Apparently towards the end of his career he resented Holmes less and less, he just got tired of it being his sole association for a while.

The movie is lots of fun, definitely more of an action/buddy-flick, and they tweak a lot of things, but the characterization is great and they use lots of lines straight out of the text.

Yeah, the cocaine thing is pretty funny. It's interesting how Watson (and probably Doyle) disproves of the usage though. Even though it was legal then.

I totaly mean to see it.

I think his disaproval is fairly soft - the way a person my disaprove of drinking these days. And with Watson it always felt to me that he was disaproving more of Holmes dependance, not on the use exactly.
