Having to actually visit a mortal hospital in order to get stitches, and prevent myself from ... infection... after falling into all that glass, is about as mortifying an experience as a God can hope to go through.

Having to then practically plead to retain my job, knowing that this is nothing but Ares' fault, is, however, a close ( Read more... )

i hit ares in the face with a toaster, mortal woes, meet my arch-nemesis: my brother, business, maybe it would be wiser to say nothing

I don't make a habit of running into foul tempered gods.

He's even more foul tempered given that he's not the latter anymore.

Other gods appear to have gotten over the fact that they are no longer immortal. Why can't he?

This is actually not a bad plan at all. Maybe indulging one of his primitive urges will keep him distracted from the other ones.

We simply had an argument in which I may have roused his temper. It ended in a physical altercation. He left infuriated.

I'm fine, don't worry.

I suppose that depends entirely on your definition.

He'll live, but he has a decidedly toaster shaped mark on his face.

What was probably to be expected: he decided to pick a fight.

Ares tricked his way into my apartment, attempting to play some sort of prank on me. We argued, and when he made things physical, I followed suit. I injured him rather severely, which irritated him to no end, and in his rage, he deliberately destroyed valuable documents that are necessary for my job. As well as some of my furniture. I said some things that were perhaps pushing too far, in my own anger, and he snapped. It's been a long time since I've seen him so enraged.

[Pause, as she considers whether to tell him the rest]I should have expected his reaction, but I didn't have time to avoid it. He knocked me out and left me bleeding in my apartment. I'm afraid I underestimated this mortal frame. When I awoke, I went to the hospital, so you can be assured that I am fine ( ... )

I'm glad you're alright kid. Bless Rhea, when you said hospital I didn't know what to think. You know, I'm going to wring his neck for this? Ares preaches to these people like an idiot trying to defend me, and then goes and does stupid shit like this. I'm glad you told me though.

Is there anything I can do about your job? You don't have copies of any of the documents? Please let me replace all of your furniture. At least for the amount I can't squeeze out of that little shit.

Darling, be careful and lock your doors and windows. Ares isn't stupid enough to miss how vulnerable you are. You can stay with me if you want, but I'm sure you noticed who's back!

I apologize if I startled you. I only went to the hospital because he broke a mirror over my desk and when he hit me, I fell into the glass. I just needed a few stitches, nothing serious at all. It was more of an injury to my pride, though I take comfort in knowing that until the point where he got in one lucky punch, I hadn't even had a scratch on me, but had done some significant damage to him, despite his attempts.

His exact words to me were: "I am Ares, God of War. I do not care for unity, I do not care for Olympus. I only care for blood and the streets of Manhattan are about to drown in it."

You can see where my concern lies.

Thank you for your offers of help with my job and apartment. I've managed to soothe things over at work, as there were ways I could get copies of the documents. It was the fact that I not only lost them, but that they were also scattered out my window onto the streets of Manhattan, that really irked them, combined with my absence last week. It should be fine now, I'll just have to watch my step ( ... )
