That really looks delicious! What exactly are they made of? The second one - spam musubi - reminds of some sort of sushi, but I guess there's no raw fish in there...:)

shave ice is made by taking a big block of ice and "shaving" off bits of it until you get enough to make a cone like above (there are special machines to do this, otherwise it would take so long that the block would melt). then just add different "syrups" (I'm actually not entirely sure what these are made of exactly since I have no culinary skill whatsoever) that provide the flavor and the color. the most popular is rainbow shave ice, which is just a combination of three different flavors. I like cherry the best, though. ^___^

spam musubi is a slice of spam (that's actually been cooked, and not just taken straight from the can, 'cause that's just nasty) placed on top of a block of rice and then wrapped with the same seaweed that's used to make sushi (I can't remember the Japanese name for it, though, which is killing me 'cause no one here calls it seaweed). it's a bit greasy and very good. as for the parallels between it and sushi, it's basically the same principle but with cooked spam and on a much larger scale.
