A few quick technical questions
If anyone could answer me these, I`d be very much appreciative.
1)What does the phrase "the serial numbers filed off" mean, exactly? I`ve seen it bandied about a lot lately in reference to fanfiction that`s become "real" fiction, and the authors, but I`m not solid on what it means. Is it a reference to back-alley theft and re-sale?
2) What is it EXACTLY that makes a Mary-Sue so detestible? Is it the a) Suethor, b) the writing/ story quality, or c) the concept/clishe of a Sue althogether that turns you off?
3) Er, this is kind of sad. I should know this, but I`ve forgotten. I need to know the answer, but I left my grammar book on the other side of the planet... When writing in MLA style, how do I do an in-text citation of an author when I`m citing more than one of his/her works. (For example, quoting three seperate books by Neil Gaimon).
