Tabula Rasa - A Skintone Set

Feb 24, 2010 21:57

Yes these are under a friends lock. This is because I'm too much of a chicken to publically share something that is rather hugely breaking someone's policy. They were more made for personal use, but I got a few requests for sharing from some friends so...

I admit. It wasn't long after I finished Canvas that I felt it wasn't entirely what I personally wanted out of a skintone set. The slight lack of face detail was starting to annoy me and the shades weren't quite what I wanted on the darker shades. So, being the obsessive person that I am, time for more skintone blending!

This is a mostly complete set, but no vampire or witch overlays are included because, well, I think they're a bit nonsensical to do when there's already good ones out there (and I still wouldn't know what the heck to do about a witch/warlock default anyway).

These are a blend of Rensim's Peau with Canvas overlayed on the face, replacing the lips, changing the eyes and nose. I've also tweaked the bodies to be a bit more seamless in places and took off any body hair and genitals. They're barbie below the belt but do have nipples.

Naturals

First up, naturals. This comes in all 9 of the original shades.

Medium

Darker

And screenshots of the rest (as links because this post will be really long otherwise)

Lighter | Light | Tan | Dark | Sable | Bistre | Ebony

I've got 3 different downloads for these. You can get all 9 shades as custom skintones, all 9 as geneticized skintones (set to fall in a range with the defaults) and a set of defaults made out of Light, Medium, Tan and Darker (which are light, I know, but I tend to use the defaults alongside the geneticized shades).

Aliens

Next up we have the alien shades. Four of these for all your multi-PT set making needs. Modelled by my multi-PT sims :P

Light Green, modeled by Boreas.

Purple, modeled here by Chione (she's wearing eyeliner in that shot, it's not on the skintone)

Dark Blue, modeled by Iris

And a dark green one, modeled by Zephyr

Remember, you can only use one alien default at any time.

Plantsim

Of course we also have a plantsim skintone set

The normal version, I really love how this one turned out personally.

And the wilted version.

Of course there's a default version as well which uses these two to replace your plantsim skintone. The default has no eyes, your sims eyes will stay as the eye they had before they turned into a plantsim. I figured that was easier than dealing with the hassle of having an eye on there that does not match your usual set. However, if people want I can write a mini-tutorial on changing eyes on skintones.

Werewolf

Did I say werewolf? Yes I did.

Something different for these, these are mainly the same werewolf skintone as the Canvas werewolf with a slight difference. The visible face and body features are of this set now, not the Canvas one but that's not the biggest difference.

The biggest difference is that this one is semi-transparant. I took the idea from Leh, who made a transparant werewolf skin, and applied it to my own skintone. The hair detail is more subtle as a result. The effect will always be a brownish werewolf but some of the colour of the underlying skintone will shine through.

To give you an idea:

On the light skintone

On the bistre skintone

The difference is not too noticable here

On the dark blue alien skintone. Where you can really see the blue come through.

The effect varies on what skintone it gets overlayed on, for some it's really noticable, for others not so much.

Just like the plantsim default there are no eyes on this skintone, your sims eyes will stay with whatever eye they were born with (this to make it look better on most alien eyes because I hate having the dark alien eye be replaced by an eye with a white sclera.

(note, this package unrarred is BIG, it's about 24 Mb and that's compressed)

Zombie

Can't have a set without a zombie skintone

Braaains....

Extras

Yes, this set comes with extras! Because I went a little crazy while doing this :P

A genie default (if I could figure out how to replace his dodgy beard, I so would but ugh). Note, he's using a different eye than in that screenshot. Instead he's using one of Pooklet + Simrenity's Glockenspiel eyes so credit to them :)

And last, but definitely not least

Modeled by the always lovely Rosie, one android skintone (which was a total pain in the ass to make)

And, that's that. Enjoy :)
