ereaders

Here's a question for any of you who are high tech - what ereader do you prefer/did you choose, and why?

question, discussion

Currently trying to finish my physical stack, but if/when that happens, I'd probably go for the Kindle-I like Amazon best for online purchases, so if I'm going to buy ebooks, I'd rather do so from them. And my mom has one and loves it.

I was contemplating ereaders, when out of the blue my friend shows up, says he has an early birthday present for me, and hands me a kindle! So I guess I'm going for a kindle now too....

Very cool! If am ever in the position to buy an ereader, I'll probably post asking for suggestions, even though I am biased toward the kindle. So I'd be interested to know how you like it.

So far I really like it. It's got really simple controls (almost too simple) and buttons for both righties and lefties. I like that it's not touchscreen, so it doesn't get that layer of unaesthetic grease on it.

I haven't figured out how to move things around in the list of table of contents yet though, if there is a way. So I just have to go down the un-alphabetical list looking for what I want.

To compare, I borrowed my boss' Dell Streak7 for a presentation I'm doing today on ebooks. It's got a coat of fingerprints on it and I'm still not sure I know how to work it yet. (It would help if all the ebooks on it weren't expired and I had some directions, so it's not all the Streak7's fault.)

Edit: doesn't that need a pronoun?

I'm going for a Kindle too after I save enough cash to blow on it (overseas shipping? multiply US Kindle's cost twice :/). I like its simple design, battery life, and basic Internet options. I'd avoid touchscreen too. Kindle Fire sounds amazing, but no - an ereader should have e-ink, after all ;)
I admit I'm biased, but the simplicity of Kindle coupled with the easy access to ebooks from Amazon sounds about right to me. xD
