Can anyone recommend or disrecommend the writing style of Ernest Hogan, author of Cortez On Jupiter, High Aztech, and Smoking Mirror Blues? I am trying to figure out whether or not to blind-buy his works off the internet because they sound so interesting. Also, anyone know if he is still being published under a pseudonym or something? I'm on p.62 of Dead Men's Boots, by Mike Carey, bk 3 in the Felix Castor series. I have the first 4, and ordered bk 5 from the UK since I don't want to wait til January.

Also reading Aspergirls, by Rudy Simone, which is about girls with Aspergers.

It's BASTILLE DAY! What are you reading???

Nights of Villjamur by Mark Charan Newton.
An elaborately-constructed strange city that kind of reminds me of Sarah Monette.  Encroaching ice age!  Refugees!  Imperialism!  Intrigue!  Murder!  Romance!  (I think.....hard to tell yet......)  Several species of co-existing nonhumans, including a protagonist.
