Finally called about my kids today. I was so upset before, that I didn't want to say anything I'd regret. Especially since I have no control in the matter

Sounds like a military thing - my father was a drill sargent (literally). Yelling and screaming do not have an effect on me as I was desensitized as a child.

Glad you are going to see the kids next weekend. Makes for much joy!
