Super bringing together of Xander's and Giles' experiences. Of course, we didn't know about Giles at the time, but now that we have hindsight, this is perfect.

Yes - it's almost a pity that neither of them would want to dig into those memories in order to compare notes. Although you do have to wonder if Xander figured the connection out, after finding out about Giles' past ...
