Thursday, 7 May 2020: Social Distancing

May 07, 2020 22:00

Another day of social distancing, which in my case means I only left my apartment to go for a short walk around Park Towne Place's grounds. My step count before I left were 84 for the day...and I started my walk at 5:30 p.m., just to make sure you realize how pathetic that count is...but it now totals 1,599. Still pathetic, actually, but better ( Read more... )

Even if they open up the state where I live (and they have partially opened up SC), those bleak odds are the reason why I might still not go out. 50 percent is not good. Actually - I'm only 70, but that isn't all that many years.

If mother nature took all those blooms, where did they blow off to?

We had a streak of very windy weather...so windy that sometimes I stood stock still until the wind dropped...so who knows where they ended up. We have a grounds crew here, so the pavements so get swept...more like vaccumed, actually...pretty regularly. FanSee

I shall endeavour to be very cautious till they have a vaccine for this thing too. I long for the freedom to make my own decisions, though. My tulips are all gone too.

Cautious is good. Very cautious is even better. Keep it up. FanSee

I don't think that's a conspiracy, I'm pretty sure Trump or one of his surrogates has actually said that. It's a terrible state we're in when you can't tell the conspiracies from the talking points.

I was happy I wrote this, I think Trump and the administration...are doing little or nothing to...(produce) COVID-19 tests because they are aware that more testing equals..(more) cases."

I heard him say exactly that yesterday! that more testing reveals more cases. He looked and sounded like he wasn't going to do anything to make distributing those supplies more efficient. I think we may eventually find out he has been sabotaging testing programs, passively or even actively.

Oy! I'm becoming a conspiracy theorist. That's definitely Trump's fault. FanSee

Try thinking about it a different way.

Excellent comment. Thank you.

I think the problem with our denominator continues: we are still not doing what I would call 'community testing' to determine the rate of infection in a hot spot. Instead, we still seem to be generally testing only symptomatic individuals.

Also, on April 15th the BBC reported that Cuomo had added over 3,500 deaths to the total, based on his analysis of a surge in deaths outside of the healthcare system. Apparently there are problems with the numerator as well as the denominator, probably nation-wide. There are gaps in our data collection you could drive a truck through.

I would vote for Cuomo for president in a heart beat if he ran. Which he won't. *sigh* FanSee

If it's a conspiracy, and it may well be, it's a stupid one. Yes, not testing hides how many cases there are, but not testing HIDES HOW MANY CASES THERE ARE! If they knew where the cases are, know who had the virus and who didn't, they could quarantine just those people who had it and those who'd been exposed, and so everyone else could go back to propping up his precious economy. But he's stupid and he's surrounded himself with stupid people.

I've decided DJT has no idea how denominators and numerators work. I doubt he even would know what the names stand for if he read this comment. FanSee
