Ouch! Best of luck with getting it sorted! Sounds like you did a good job getting more quotes. The mansplainer didn't sound very convincing with his small words and wide estimates.
I LOVE that! I had written him off well before he stopped talking and left.
After 48 hours with no kitchen access, the containment plastic came down Saturday morning. The damage to the ceiling is far less than I imagined. A guy named Andy will be here at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning (Monday, 20 March) to repair it and paint the ceiling, and then we're done. *sigh* Thank heavens. FanSee
The Adventures of fansee - a new TV series about life's ongoing adventures!! Watch fansee tackle the toughest problems, always coming out on top!!
How many episodes are there in a typical series? Include some travel adventures and you probably have more than enough. No worries; I'm sure the show will be picked up for a 2nd season.
Seriously, mold is dangerous. I'm glad you got things fixed quickly. Will David come back in a month or so to check that no leaks or mold have come back?
I am so glad I picked David to do the mold remediation. From his description, the second place finisher, Tom, would have done the job significantly cheaper and significantly less thoroughly. Mold is not something I want to deal with in a semi-slap dash fashion.

I don't think that will be necessary. I will be on hyper-alert for any signs of leakage and will call on the least pretext. No more fooling around! FanSee
The only house I ever owned was the one I inherited from my Mother. It was 12 years old when it became my sole responsibility and I lived in it for another 14 years after that before selling it. I can clearly remember all the time and money I put into that house just to keep it running properly. Eventually the cost of upkeep, along with the rising taxes on it became too much for me to handle, which is why I sold it. I just hope that this will be the last upkeep you'll need to deal with for a long time. Good luck. Sounds like you have it well in hand. Huge hugs, Grammy
Judy, my traveling companion, posted this comment on Facebook: "The sole purpose in life of houses is to hand you unpleasant surprises."
I have no confidence that no other surprises lie in wait for me. I'm so lucky to have the funds to deal with these problems even though it means I have to forgo other projects I wanted to do. FanSee
I'm such a HUGE fan of the eloquent descriptive and humorous way in which you always turn a mundane situation into a brilliant article that reads like a script to a screw ball comedy. I do hope everything turns out okay. Stay dry and safe my dear Fansee HUGS V.
We're in the home stretch now, and I think I can safely say that it will be fine. I know I made the right choice in the contractor I chose for the project. That's a good feeling.
Stay dry and safe my dear Fansee
Everything is melting like crazy out there, with the sun blazing away and the temperature in the mid 40sF/7C, so I can say that I did stay both dry and safe.
Thanks for the good wishes and the over-the-top praise...which I love inordinately. Hugs, FanSee
Oh my gosh, I'm glad you caught this when you did. How scary it must have been. They had this issue next door, but when they scanned us, thankfully there was no sign of black mold.
