Democratic Convention

As many of you know, I am quite the fan of my city, Philadelphia. Whenever we host meetings of large groups...and the Democratic Convention is large...attendees often are surprised and pleased at how charming and lively Philadelphia is. I'm afraid that won't be happening this time. Most of the attendees will see little beyond their hotel and the Convention Center.

Today's high was 99F (37C): not good weather for a stroll, the best way to see Philly. And if the heat wasn't bad enough, it was interrupted twice by brief but violent thunderstorms that seemed to leave the humidity higher than ever. The delegates will be lucky if they get far enough away from the Convention Center to grab a bite in the Reading Terminal Market across the street.

The following is a rather lengthy article from the Washington Post. This is what the delegates will be missing if they are (understandably) reluctant to venture beyond air conditioned spaces:
Why Philadelphia is the perpetual underdog.
