So. Another Valentine's Day post your f-lists will have to suffer through. But what's that? I'm SINGLE, but I'm STILL WISHING PEOPLE HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY
( Read more... )
The Oatmeal has done some great comics and this was one of them! To be sure, I'm not very interested in celebrating Valentine's Day, what with being single and all, but it probably is a nice day for all the happy (and maybe even the not-so-happy) couples out there. The people who go on Anti-V-Day Rampage are probably just bitter about not being one of those lovely lovers.
And you're right; Hallmark and everyone who makes things for this day are simply doing what they're meant to be doing as a business and that it's the people who buy that stuff. It's just strange how they can't see that...
A) Your icon is having me flailing in fits of squee
B) I discovered The Oatmeal... a few months back. I mean, discovered in the sense of, "I finally had time to sit down and read it all." It's always a relief to know I'm not the only person who spazz-thinks, and between that comic and Hyperbole and a Half's blog, it's reassuring to know that other people are POPULAR for having spazzy thought processes
Oooh...Hyperbole and a Half! Now there's something that'll have me glued to the laptop for an unhealthy amount of time as I try and read everything available immediately. There's something about that kind of humour that just has me hooked. The Oatmeal is similar; I get so carried away by the genius there that I forget that I have to eat/sleep/wash/boringrlstuff.
The internet really is a scarily addictive thing. But it's fabulous all the same. :)
Oh, and thanks about the icon. I'm guessing you've seen A Very Potter Sequel? If not, then you reall should. I'm sure you'd like it.
I have a really bad habit of collecting addicting websites, too. My newest one is Myths Retold http://bettermyths.blogspot.com/ because, as a myth-buff, I bow down to this guy's amazingness. He retells myths-- ALL myths, not just Greek and Norse-- in a stream of consciousness. But even better, it's the stream of consciousness of a post-college male with, probably, ADD
And I ADORED AVPS. I was one of those people that sat on their computers, counting down until the release. And honestly... *shifty look* I actually preferred A Very Potter Sequel to the original. I thought it was funnier, with better overall wittiness. I'm really, REALLY kicking myself because I had the opportunity to meet the cast this summer at Infinitus (I live an hour from Orlando, which is where the convention was held) but I wimped out because it was going to be REALLY crowded and fairly pricey to go. There goes my chance of proposing to Darren Criss :(
I think the funniest part is that the very same bitter individual who was screaming at Hallmark for making such a lousy holiday... has come back this evening, "Thank you to the individual who sent me flowers!!!"
If I were a troll, I'd rip her to pieces. Since I'm not, I have LiveJournal to whine and moan with >:}
I love the people that get engaged on valentines day. I would almost be insulted. It's so meaningless. I have noticed the influx of "couple" pictures as their profile pic for today. I honestly don't care. Love is a 24/7 job, Valentines day is just to make your other high on chocolate.
(((Also: I totally called it. The one person who was bitching on FB about how V-Day is a Hallmark holiday posted a new status tonight, "Thank you for the flowers, mystery person!" I'm so glad I'm not a troll because I would've trolled her to pieces over this)))
