Mini Frerard (fang!) Bang: Explanatory Post

Oct 03, 2012 23:37

A newer, darker album is coming up. Halloween (and Frankie's birthday) looms, and what better way to celebrate than a flailtastic mini frerard (fang!)bang? The challenge, should you choose to accept it: vampire frerard, 5k word minimum. Deadline? Halloween, of course!

I'm kinda interested, but it doesn't look like anyone is signed up yet. You might try posting to which has a pretty big readership to generate more interest. And maybe over on Dreamwidth, which has quite a few LJ escapees?

I'm currently, (as per a very kind recommendation!) posting about it on both the LJ and DW versions of the Daily Flail MCR comm. If you have any specific areas you'd recommend, I would certainly appreciate it. (You can also feel free to distribute the pre-formatted info-blurb about it anywhere you feel that pimping it is appropriate.)

If you have any ideas, please don't hesitate to let me know; I'm absolutely open to suggestions as far as spreading the word and accruing more participants goes.

Oh, sorry, LJ ate part of my comment.

I was suggesting you post to bandslashmania on LJ and angelsandkings on DW.

Huh. It's been doing that for this account a bit, too. (Maybe it's hungry?)

I absolutely appreciate your recommendations, and have now made posts on both the LJ and DW in regards to the challenge. Thank you for your advice!

This bang is a little more confusing than others...so we don't actually sign up until we've to submit what we've written? And then the final draft has to be finished by the 31st, right? Do we then get posting dates or do we post them all on that date?

Do we then get posting dates or do we post them all on that date?My apologies! It wasn't meant to be confusing. The idea was that you would sign up with an idea or basic concept by the 15th, because having at least a basic idea would theoretically give us a better chance to match artists with authors based on the artists' areas of expertise and comfort zones. Once the artists were paired up with their respective authors, they could figure out what to draw -- and an author could describe a favourite scene they wanted illustrated, even if it was not yet entirely written ( ... )

So I have an idea, and i want to write one for it, but sometimes my time gets limited and I don't realize until it's too late. If I sign up, and by the 15th realize I'm not going to be able to do it, is that okay? I actually started writing it in fact, but sometime, life you know? Anyway, just thought I'd ask before I signed up.

As long as you make note of it beforehand, it should be fine -- I'll just post links to yours last :)

(admittedly, if everyone made this request, then I'd have to figure out what to do-- but in the interest of making this challenge real-human-friendly, I realize that it's impossible to plan for everything, and I'll be happy for all entries, even ones that are a bit late.)

I'm a little confused. So we have to have the summary in by the 15th, and the fic written by Halloween?

Ideally, yes, though with the caveat that extensions can be doled out on an as-needed basis.

Oh okay, because I've been working on the fic for a few days now and I'm about done.

good to know! If you could write a very brief summary, I would put it up on the "author signup" page -- and, if you'd prefer, we can see about setting up which artist will be paired with you, in order to give them as much time as possible to create the companion material for your fic.

Once you are finished composing your entry, if you could have a beta-reader run through it, (if you don't have a preferred beta-reader handy, one can be arranged from a pool of my ninja-volunteers) that would be lovely.

Finally -- if you finish up one entry, get it beta-read, and have an artist assigned and are drowning in torrents of free time and inspiration, you are completely allowed to compose another entry, as well ;)
