Throughout the Christmas break Alicia couldn't stop thinking about Adrian. It was odd because prior to his random act of kindness she couldn't stand him. His arrogance was a major turn off and the way he carried himself on a regular basis was borderline passive-aggressive. He wasn't easy to read and she could tell he led a double life - or maybe that's what he wanted people to think.

Upon arriving at Hogwarts Alicia sought out Adrian. She needed to ask him a few questions. Once she received the answers she wanted from him then she'd look for Miles so they could reconnect. She made her way to the Slytherin common room, hoping not to run into Miles before she was ready and fortunately who she bumped into was Daphne Greengrass. She knew the girl in passing due to their families living near each other, but Alicia wouldn't call her an acquaintance nor would she call her a stranger.

"Have you seen Adrian by any chance?"

"I saw him heading towards the library. Why?"

"I wanted to ask him some homework related questions," she replied and quickly departed without saying goodbye. She didn't need to justify herself to Daphne. It was pretty common knowledge that she was sleeping with Miles and she didn't care if people got the wrong idea, but she didn't want to give anyone a reason to start a rumor.

It didn't take Alicia long to spot Adrian in the library. She pulled up a chair beside him and said, "Your words really stuck with me. I couldn't fully enjoy the break because of them."

"I see the art of conversation isn't dead," he retorted sarcastically.

"You know we're not friends, so why fake it?"

"Fine, what do you want?"

"I want to know why you helped Miles and I out of our predicament. I want to know why you made that vaguely suggestive comment to me when no one was around. I was under the impression you hated me, that I was beneath you and that you moved on from your crush."

Adrian chuckled. "You're reading way too much into this. I was simply helping out a friend. There's nothing wrong with being helpful every now and then."

"Tell me the truth. I can keep a secret."

"Fine, the truth is that I'm in love with you and I know it'll never be. So I've resigned myself to admiring you from afar, knowing I could never have you."

"Really? Aww that's so sweet."

Adrian burst into laughter. "No, not really. How dim can you be? I've been over you for years now. My crush is dead and gone. I truly don't care who you sleep with. I don't want to sleep with you either. I was just being helpful to Miles, repaying a favor or two so I owe him less in the future."

"Good," was all Alicia said then she excused herself from Adrian's table and looked for Miles. It didn't take her long to find him. She was upset about her exchange with Adrian and she wasn't entirely sure why.

She pulled Miles into an empty classroom and had her way with him. It was so rough, raw and aggressive that Miles climaxed faster than usual. As he finished making himself presentable he asked, "Why was this so different? Did you miss me?"

Alicia smiled coyly and replied, "Yes, you have no idea."
