Alicia tried to open the doors and the windows but it was useless. None of them budged. She tried to break the window closest to her with a lamp, but it bounced off as though it was protected by an invisible shield. Alicia was perplexed.
Adrian was amused. He could stand by watching her do this all day, but he didn’t have much time. He needed to get on with his plans. He pushed Alicia onto the bed and climbed on top of her. She squirmed but it didn’t faze him.
“Why are you doing this? What did I ever do to you?” she asked him.
“You promised me you’d give me a chance. You promised you’d never doubt me. I’m tired of defending myself when it’s you who lied to me.”
“You hurt me. I don’t love you anymore. I can’t be with someone who thinks it is okay to treat me badly. I don’t care what your excuses are. Now get off me.”
He knew this wasn’t getting him anywhere, but he needed to try one last time. He climbed off Alicia and unlocked all the windows and doors. Alicia knew this was part of his plan and she wasn’t falling for it. She knew how devious he could be. She knew that he had two sides to him - the charming, warm and kind side and the destructive, manipulative and selfish side.
“Many bad things that happened between us wasn’t in my control. I know you won’t believe me but I was under someone else’s control. I know it doesn’t matter now because our relationship is ruined. You deserve better treatment, but I think you should be careful. Miles isn’t who you think he is and he did all of this to get you. Now he has you. What do you think he’ll do when he’s tired of you?”
Alicia shook her head and pointed at the door. “Get out! I’m exhausted. Congratulations on not being dead. Please leave me alone for good.”
“You don’t care that Miles is the reason we separated?”
“No because I don’t believe you.”
“Fine, you’re not the Alicia I once loved anyways.”
