It had been a few weeks -- and she felt she had a set of very valid excuses, thank you -- since Pepper had really devoted any time to the front of the shop.

So, her shift today was spent busily tidying various small messes while arguing in French on her Bluetooth. Because clearly multitasking was not only a good idea, but necessary.

It was extraordinarily rare for Pepper to be late under any circumstances, but today, everything had seemed to conspire to make that happen. Today was a day for celebration, as a result, and that meant Blackberry-shopping online.

Pepper had set up the account ages and ages ago, mostly as a networking resource, but she hadn't anticipated that every person she'd ever gone to school with would have contacted her. Pepper had had a relaxing week, even without actually going anywhere.

Today, though, she was experiencing a minor crisis: She'd broken a heel on her way in today. Since she wasn't mechanically-inclined, she was poking around the shop trying to find something to repair it with. She'd already decided soldering was out.

After the events of the week prior, Pepper was doing some extra work making sure that her go-to databases were up-to-date, and updating her software.

It was a fascinating job, really.

Today was not Pepper's best day, really, all things considered. The weekend had been...not great, and she'd spent most of yesterday trying to pretend that it hadn't happened.

She saw no reason to really change things today, really. So she was keeping busy with whatever she could.

Today, Pepper had told a CFO that she'd always thought his toupee looked fake, a fellow secretary that her breasts weren't fooling anyone, and a representative from USA Today that their publication was trash.

And that was all just from memory.

As such, Pepper had turned off her phone. She had no idea what was going on, but it needed to stop.
