It was because of Facebook. Stupid, stupid Facebook.
Pepper had set up the account ages and ages ago, mostly as a networking resource, but she hadn't anticipated that every person she'd ever gone to school with would have contacted her. She'd gotten messages from people she hadn't spoken to since elementary school, people she'd worked with in the secretarial pool, even her next-door neighbor from fourteen years ago.
The highlight of the weird ones, though, was her friend request from the guy she'd lost her virginity to. She had refrained from any contact with him since they'd broken up when she was nineteen (all of a month after she'd given it up, too. Sigh.) It'd been extra-awkward, since he was in her accounting class, too. Good times.
She'd denied that request, deciding her social network was wide enough, and had set forth installing a few game applications instead. She'd just discovered the Oregon Trail one.
[I'm aroundish but slow. And #27 was too hilarious to not use.]
