The day was overcast, the ducks were oblivious, the park benches were currently not kicking people who tried to sit on them.
It was a good thing Walter rather appreciated Adella's perverse nature because dragging a vampire out the park in the middle of even a cloudy day was definitely perverse. So perhaps he was getting a little handsy as a bit of turnabout for her choice of amusements.
Too bad it's not sunny, you could get a tan.
Quiet, boy. Didn't you enjoy last night?
What are you trying to do? Give him a tan?
I'm just trying to get him across the damn park.
And then?
You'll see.
Adella didn't want to spoil the surprise just yet, but then again it wouldn't hurt to stop under a tree just a bit and let Walter finish whatever he's trying to start.
Nadia was pissed. She was also worried, but right now the anger was overriding that.
Walter had stood her up. Walter had stood her up! That meant she had two options. She could wallow in misery and sit about waiting for him to call like an idiot, or she could track him down and read him the riot act.
She went with option number two.
The riot act was going to be a particularly violent one, judging by what she was seeing when she got to the park. Pippi and Walter. Walter and Pippi.
She wished she'd brought her mallet.
Finishing whatever he was trying to start might result in attracting the town's police force, these "troopers" he'd read about in Walter's journal. But an appetizer against a tree wouldn't be a bad thing.
Did you never get any at home?
Marrying your work doesn't get you much sex.
Not now. Not here.
Shhhhhhh.
Nadia was going to kill them.
She stalked forward.
"Just what do you two think you're doing?!"
"Pippi" looked over to the speaker.
Oh look, it's the little one.
...
"Well," she answered, pausing to squeak at something Walter was doing which Nadia probably couldn't see. "Not the backstroke."
Maybe later.
Run! The boy pounded at the walls that held him in, trying to get even a single word out to warn her. Run!
Walter turned to look at the girl, not pausing in what his hands were doing, and raised an eyebrow while giving her a full, and rather appreciative, appraisal. A friend of yours, boy?
Leave her the hell alone!
Nadia crossed her arms. "Is this why you didn't come last night?" Her voice tried to shriek out the statement. "You were busy doing . . ."
She couldn't put the word on what they were doing. That would somehow make it true.
"You-you pedazo del bastardo de la rata de la mierda!"
Adella didn't take here eyes off Nadia as she snuggled up to Walter, twining a leg around his waist.
"Did you have plans last night Hotness?" she asked Walter.
She brushed her lips against his ear and flicked her tongue along the ridge of it.
Whispering very softly she said, "I think this one is important, the kid always seems to clam up around the important ones."
A small smile curled at the corners of Walter's mouth. "Nothing important." Which, if he remembered the boy's journal correctly, was not what the boy would say. "Just wasting time with Nadia."
The boy had told himself he'd stay silent like Pippi must be, but the vampire's words had him screaming things in their shared head that were graphically descriptive of just what he'd do when he had the chance.
Nadia felt like her chest was imploding. She stared at Walter and Pippi for a long moment, speechless.
"W-wasting--" Stay angry. You can be upset later. Stay angry now.
Nadia's voice lowered dangerously. "That's how you see it? We're just wasting time?" She stalked closer.
When had these two gotten so tall?
Adella chuckled slightly which turned into another squeak which turned into a giggle as she wrapped her other leg around Walter and turned her attention fully to just how good an ear can taste.
Walter briefly ignored Nadia in favor of inducing another squeak. Who knew Adella could pull off cute? It was almost endearing.
When he looked back to Nadia, he shrugged at her. "What do you think?"
Nadia stood frozen for just a second.
She would not let anyone, even Walter, treat her like this.
She finished crossing the distance to the two, aiming a right hook at Walter's jaw.
Adella peeked ever so slightly at Nadia as she closed the distance.
GENTLY!
As Nadia threw her punch, Adella struck out to (carefully, though not gently) backhand Nadia's fist out of the way.
"Get away kid." she said momentarily taking her lips from Walter's ear.
"Ya bother me."
Getting smacked by Pippi, even a casual backhand like that, hurt a lot.
The words actually hurt more.
Nadia pulled her hand back, holding it close, glaring at Pippi.
"Not a chance. What the hell is the matter with you two?"
How charming, Adella was protecting him, too. They probably couldn't stay on this little island for long, but travel with the fairy would be entertaining.
"Should we go somewhere more," he paused to do something the boy hadn't learned how to do yet, "private?" He ignored Nadia's question entirely.
Adella drew in a stuttering breath as her eyes rolled back.
"You ask so nicely."
Yes. Get away from here. Leave her alone.
Oh I hope she'll follow us.
Leave her alone. You can do whatever you want with us if you leave her alone!
We'll do whatever we want anyway.
Walter smirked at Nadia as he disentangled himself from Adella. Without a word to the girl, he put a hand on the small of Adella's back to walk her back to Blackadder's flat.
In his prison behind his eyes, the boy silently begged Nadia to go find someone to tell, to not follow them.
Nadia wasn't going to let them get away until she got a damned good explanation. She stormed after them.
"Don't you walk away from me! Dammit!"
Adella didn't react to Nadia.
She put her arm around Walter's waist, resting her hand on his ass.
Yeah... He definitely works out.
