Causeway, Sunday Morning

Oct 09, 2016 06:17

Yep, it was that time again: fall break. Atton dragged his luggage outside near the causeway, where they'd be waiting for the portal to show up. It was a nice fall morning, crisp but not cold, and if he was at all into enjoying the outdoors, he'd probably be happy right now ( Read more... )

Peridot hadn't brought anything with her to the causeway this morning.

Okay, that wasn't completely true. She'd brought the glittery bow that Ada had given her, wrapped around her neck like a choker. She really had no idea what 'vacation' consisted of, but she figured that, at the very least, she ought to dress up for the occasion. And, honestly, she was feeling naked and more than a little bit vulnerable now that her limb enhancers were gone. Maybe she should have brought those paint can stilts that Steven had painted up for her, after all.

Please watch your step, Fandomites. There's a triangle somewhere down there.

Call Kanan paranoid (because he was; Kanan was very paranoid), but he had a small bag over his shoulder containing all of those things - all two of them - that he wouldn't dare leave behind if he had to cut his losses and run at any point.

Well. Not his dog. He'd left Stance at home with Cecil, since Cecil got along with the pup so well and they were likely to frown on him smuggling a pet along to Sleepy Hollow.

It wasn't that he wasn't planning on coming back to the island. He was, of course. But after last weekend and the frog invasion that followed, Kanan wasn't in any mood to take chances. There was also an appropriate amount of clean clothing in his bag, though he was starting to concede that he was going to need something more substantial than his tunic to wear before long if the weather kept getting colder, but that was a given for going on vacation, right?

Anyway, he was here. Presumably to chaperone, but most likely just to spend the week making terrible life choices somewhere that wasn't his own living room.

Was Jonothon kind of excited about this trip?

Bloody right Jonothon was kind of excited about this trip. A man on fire going to a place where the main attraction consisted of spooky tales of ghosts and the like? It was as though the place had been made with him in mind. He was wrapped up for now, of course, because there was a difference between embracing a potentially amusing travel destination and scaring the ever-loving shite out of the locals, but he'd be lying if he wasn't planning on scoping out the place as soon as possible to see just what he could get away with.

Hannibal was looking forward to the trip, but mostly just amused at Jono's excitement at the moment. He doubted his own form of getting away with things would be particularly welcome, so he'd just help Jono with his.

//You know,// Jono mused, turning his excited look toward Hannibal, //this isn't going to do much to convince me to stop trying to pester you for a Halloween wedding.//

Look, at this point, if their weddings were going to be doomed anyway, he might as well have fun with the settings.

"Perhaps this week will help you get it out of your system," Hannibal suggested with little hope.

Ada had had...more than a little bit of cider and mead yesterday, and was curled up on her duffle-bag half-asleep, still little bits of her fairy makeup smudged around her eyes, as they waited for the portal.
