Hopefully, everyone still had a little socialization in them yesterday after the mixer. There was still plenty of Tamsin's booze reserves to be shared, which would go nicely with all of the breakfast foods being served.

... She'd unintentionally stolen an ABC workbook. After Gratuity pointed out that the library was a good place to go for books that didn't need to be paid for, she had returned the workbook with absolutely no fanfare and had gotten herself a book that she had been given permission to take.

"I wonder if there's anything on events like this one there," he said thoughtfully. "Everyone is older than they were."
Except him. He wasn't.

The concept of aging really didn't apply to somebody who came into life fully formed and who didn't change, physically, without making a conscious decision to do so.

"What do you know of organic life cycles?" he asked, and waved a seat. "You might as well sit."
This might take a while.

"They're short," she supplied. "Laughably short compared to a Gem's life. Humans come into the world after practically no time at all, small and weak, but mature rapidly, into a complete specimen, like yourself." She shrugged. "Then they die?"
