Petting Zoo

Who doesn't like animals? There are plenty of nice, harmless farm-type animals to meet, pet and feed in the pens. Make some new friends.

Yes, there are totally chickens.

Ender wasn't sure what drew him to the petting zoo in particular - maybe his mind had been drifting off in these directions more and more since he and Ben took their first steps towards parenthood.

Either way, here he was, trying to coax the chickens closer with a hand full of mealworms. It was harder than he'd anticipated.

Alana got totally distracted by the cuteness of the baby goats and spent way, way more time feeding them than she had expected.

Some things with horns were adorable. Who knew?

"Are there no goats where you are from?" Ichabod asked, as they were hardly the kind of animal that would attract his attention.

"Not really," Alana said cheerfully. "And definitely none I got to feed and love on like this."

A small black goat was trying to chew on her sleeve; she snatched it away with a giggle.

"You are aware that they are considered stubborn and not of a kind demeanor?" Ichabod replied. "Not that I wish to belittle your enjoyment."

Alana shrugged. "I'm petting it, not auditioning it as a roommate," she said. "Are goats a big thing where you're from?"

"Perhaps if you are a farmer," Ichabod replied. "They are kept for milk and meat."

"So, not for snuggling," Alana concluded. "Are there other animals here that you like better?"

"I prefer horses and dogs," Ichabod replied. "But what animals are you used to where you are from?"

Alana gave him a brief and handwavey due to lack of canon explanation, if one that was somewhat distracted by the ongoing goat nuzzles happening here.

"...but the weirdest are Lying Cats," she finished. "Like, they look the same as the cats here, just a little bigger, but they know if someone's lying. And they say 'Lie' when they hear one."

"Treasured," Alana said. "But they're not something you want somebody who's got reason to be mad at you to have, that's for sure."

"Unless you never lie?" Ichabod said. "Of course, one might not want it known that one is always telling the truth either.

"Right, and I'm not sure I believe there's anybody who never lies," Alana noted. "Like, I always add an inch or so if I have to say how tall I am. It's dumb, but I don't need a cat pointing it out."
