Priestly was attempting to figure out what kind of paperwork you had to do when an employee died. It was generally easier than focusing on the fact that one of his employees had died -- and he'd found out about it by listening to the radio. Bay had gotten a kind of sick relief out of hearing Gert's death announced on the radio. It was terrible to hear it said so baldly, but at least she didn't have to worry people didn't know anymore.

But she still needed to have to have a few in-person conversations, including one with Priestly.

"Hey," she said, leaning on the counter and eyeing his pile of paperwork. "That is a whole lot of forms."

"And such is now my life," Priestly confirmed. He looked up, tipping his head. "You doing alright?"

He didn't know either her or Gert especially well, but he'd heard enough to know they were friends -- and that Bay was the one who'd had to break the news.

Bay shrugged one shoulder. She could tell from Priestly's tone it hadn't been an idle question.

"I guess, other than the hiding in my room and hating on God a lot. But I'm functional and everything."

"That all sounds pretty much about par for the course," Priestly said. "I'm really sorry. Gert was a great person."
