Basement Gun Range of Atlas Gym, Saturday

Feb 02, 2013 16:16

Momoko and Triela were in the basement gun range at the Atlas Gym. Finally. It had taken a while to jog the memory of the desk attendant to the fact that there even was one on the premises. There weren't really cobwebs, but the place definitely had needed a swift cleaning before Momoko would agree to even set her coat down. Triela had left her to ( Read more... )

Triela scowled ever so slightly. "Because not enough people on the island can shoot." She glanced over at Momoko. "Want to take bets on the last time anyone used the dorm range?"

She rather doubted that gun club was still running.

Momoko rolled her eyes and gave a snort. "No way! Although I should be happy that fewer people are using guns, I am totally wondering what weapons they are using now."

"On Fandom, they better be using something." Triela shook her head. "Unless the place has gotten a lot less dangerous over the past two years."

"Not that I've noticed." Momoko double-checked her pistol. "In fact, some of it leaked out once... made entire worlds vanish. Some are still gone. I remember being glad you weren't there, so you couldn't see how badly I was shooting."

A gun range was about the last place Raven would normally go, but after the message she'd gotten last night, she didn't particularly care where she had to go so long as the person who'd left it was there. She wasn't even thinking of the strangeness of being back on the island after all these months when she arrived.

"Triela?" she called, making her way down the stairs. She was still mentally aflail because she had no idea how she was there.

"Raven." Triela turned, putting her pistol down, and grinned. "You made it."

Really, coming back from the dead (even if only temporarily) should not have shocked Raven as much as it did, since she herself had done so several times. But still, she stopped short and stared.

"How?" she said.

"You can't be that surprised," Triela teased lightly. "It's Fandom, after all."

Karla's parents were following sedately behind, but Karla was running ahead. There had practically been a Karla-shaped dust cloud from where she'd been standing as soon as she'd gotten the text message from Momoko.

She checked her speed as soon as she entered the basement. One did not run into the middle of a gun range. But that didn't stop her happy cry of, "Triela!" as soon as she saw her friend.

"Karla!" Triela grinned, eyes glancing down almost automatically to see what footwear her friend had for today. She didn't even realize she'd done so. "I wasn't sure you'd be here."

But it was really, really good to see her.

Karla would be willing to thank whatever deity that asked that she had put on her boots today. Her whole outfit might have been subconsciously chosen to make her mother frown, and that included boots that could serve as weapons if required.

"Last semester," she said, stopping just short of Triela. "Now put down that damn gun and give me a hug before I start bawling."

Triela's answering laugh was just a bit tight-voiced as she set down her pistol and strode over to pull Karla into a hug.

"You know I'm not very good with crying," Triela chided, sounding suspiciously emotional.

Dinah had gotten in barely minutes ago, before she'd called in to find out where Triela was.

That blond missile headed toward her was smiling fit to burst.

Fortunately, blond missiles made enough noise that Triela had time to put away her pistol and brace herself before Dinah burst into the range. That was probably a good thing.

"You're here you're here hi oh my god I'm so glad you didn't disappear before I got here!" Dinah was hugging Triela hard enough to crack ribs. She let go for a second, and giggled in a way that sounded like imminent tears. "You look better! That's... so weird!"

Triela managed a laugh. "Well, it would certainly be a lot less fun if I'd come back with memory problems and the inability to move around..."

Then: "Hey, you."

Okay so Leda had taken a while after learning about the situation beyond her borders to actually reach out to her friends. After 20 years it'd been harder than she'd thought. Sue her.

In any case, Momo, yer phone be ringing.

Ah! Momoko nearly bounced to the ceiling when she saw who it was on the phone.

Luckily it was the one with video capabilities?

"LEDA! LEDA! LEDA! LEDA! LEDA! LEDA! LEDA! LEDA! GUESS WHO'S HERE?!"

oh, and hello! Sorry she hasn't talked to you for twenty years.

Woah! Leda pulled the the mirror away from her face for a momtn as if that would affect the volume.

"Hi." she said. Oh she should have written down what she wanted to say. "I missed you." She was totally trying not to cry. "Uh, who's there?"

"Ow wow! I forgot again." Momoko slapped her forehead. "I didn't know it was twenty years so I missed you but only for a few weeks! And I am so sorry to hear about... oh... We can talk later about all that! TRIELA IS HERE!"

And she turned the phone to show Triela taking aim.

"See? See?"
