"Says the guy called 'Chaz,'" Maeby laughed. "It's a nickname. Is Chaz short for Charles, or were your parents weird?"

She could relate. Her parents sucked.

"Charles." Chaz admitted. "I just never felt like a Charles, you know? Too dignified or something."

"I get it," Maeby said. "I don't really feel like a 'Mae,' either. I mean, Maeby's kind of weird, but it's me. 'Mae' sounds like she's someone's grandma."

"Mae West?" Chaz said. "That would be more of someone's great-great-grandma. I went for the weird version of my name too." He admitted.

"You know, if I were named for Mae West, that wouldn't be so bad," Maeby mused. "She was kind of awesome."

She wasn't all that into classic movies, but Mae West had flair.

"I'm surprised no one tried to turn you into a 'Charlie' or a 'Chuck,'" she added.

"I beat them to the punch." Chaz admitted as the bell signaling the end of the 'date' rang. "Mae West was all sorts of awesome."

"Oh yeah," Victor joked. "You wouldn't think it looking at her, but Stacey's heinous. Barely got out with my life."

A beat as he began to feel guilty. "Um, you could tell that was a joke, right?"

Darcy went for her most somber expression. "I am absolutely telling Stacey that you think she's heinous. Once I figure out who Stacey is." A bit of a smile was trying to push through though.

Victor gestured, also smiling the tiniest bit. "Pretty but skinny blonde girl flirting with that guy over there. And see, now I'm wishing I hadn't told you."

Darcy glanced over and made a note to put something in Stacey's shampoo at some point. Because cute guys should not call other girls pretty, or something. She didn't claim to be logical. "Because now I know who to tattle to?"
