Sam and her date were . . . well, they were probably a bit past "fashionably late". Sam couldn't even complain, since this was really obviously her fault.

"Since when does it take that long to cook a ham dinner?"

Since you ordered the ENTIRE HAM, Sam.

Freddie didn't want to get his face dunked into the punch bowl, so he decided against pointing out that particular fact. "You'd think they'd be used to orders like that," he said, diplomatically. "But I think we might not be welcome back there now."

"They should carry more parmesian, too."

Because everyone ate ham with a mountain of parmesian on top.

"We'll find a better restaurant next time," she told him. "Promise."

"It's okay. I mean, we still made it here, and it's only our junior prom," Freddie said. "It's not like we don't have another go at this. We'll know for next time."

He smiled. He liked the idea of there being a 'next time' when it came to dances with Sam.

"Awww, we get to do another one." Sam bumped her shoulder against his. "Just for that, I'll even let you wear the helmet if we get out photo taken by the Mars picture."

He didn't. He really, really didn't.

He chuckled.

"But come on, you don't think I look good in a helmet? Really?"

Freddie pouted for a moment. "Okay, but we're getting back to this later," he said. When most likely they'd have to IM Carly to get her to settle the fight.

"But for now, I can do cute. We going to get pictures first, or dance, or... do you need time to digest dinner?"
