Welcome, one and all, to the Fandom High Homecoming Carnival! Here you'd find red and white decorations abound, including just about everything maple-leaf emblazoned imaginable, an assortment of moose-related things (including a crossing sign), and an assortment of delicious foods.

Piper didn't really know anyone in Fandom anymore, but it was still nice to get away from work for a few days. Plus, she always did enjoy the carnival. Maybe she'd recognize a few faces from her spot at one of the tables.

"You escaped from the kitchen for the weekend?" Isabel asked when she spotted Piper. Funnel cake in hand, she pulled out a chair and took a seat at the table.

"Yes, thank god," Piper said, sounding relieved. "There's only so much of the head chef's faux French accent I can take."

She nodded at Isabel with a smile. "So what have you been up to?"

"Pretentious much? Forget French, learn kitchen Spanish. It'll make the busboys and dishwashers love you. I learned this watching Michael work at the Crashdown," she explained. "And it's actually helped me at work myself. Which is pretty much all I've been up. That and school. Only one more semester after this."

"I know a little Spanish. Seemed necessary growing up in California," Piper said. "One more semester? Wow. Remember when we were all still in high school?"

"I do, and just when I think I'm starting to forget, one of us wakes up as the opposite gender or something equally ridiculous to remind us." Sadly they hadn't been woken up by a bright-eyed pixie girl in a long time.

"You know, the gender thing still hasn't happened to me," Piper admitted. Not that she was complaining about that. "My transformations involved gremlin bites or weird alternate realities."

"Once you're prepared for it, the gender swap isn't too bad," Isabel shrugged. "A little weird, but dealable. I've managed to avoid the gremlins thank god. No public embarrassment for me."

"You're lucky. It happened twice to me. Both were public. And both were embarrassing," Piper said, chuckling at the memory. Really, all she could do was laugh about it now.

"Look at it this way, at least you weren't part of the Skywalker song and dance troop. Artoo took video of that." She'd kill for a copy of that nowadays.
