The Beach, Thursday Afternoon

To some people at school, 73 degrees on an overcast day would be too cold sit out on the beach and watch the water. In Glacia, 73 degrees was considered downright balmy, and so Karla had gathered up her beach things and headed down to spend the afternoon. Preferably relaxing, especially after the craziness of the past few days

It was a testament to just how much Leda was already missing Fandom that she came down to the beach. Large bodies of water still gave her the wiggins.

When she saw Karla, she made her way over to her quietly. Feeling suddenly silly, when she got close, she meowed.

"Uh oh," Karla teased. "Kitties don't get cupcakes. Such a pity, since these are delicious," she added, taking a healthy bite of a chocolate one.

"Really?" Leda pouted. "Even if I'm really cute and cuddly?" She almost offered to do kitty things like rub up against her leg, but...inappropriate these days.

"I can't believe I spent prom as a cat."

"I spent prom napping, but I wasn't a senior, so I don't think it counts as much," Karla said, smirking. "And no, even cute and cuddly kitties don't get cupcakes. I have a firm rule about fur and food."

"Well may I join you anyway? I promise not to shed on you."

"I supposed we can arrange that," Karla said, scootching over so Leda would have room. "You can try to sway to towards sharing my birthday cupcakes with kitties."

Call it Fandom Jet Lag, but due to the loss of time involved in spending a month as a cat, Leda had not realized it was Karla's birthday.

"Oh Gods." she muttered, facepalming. "Karla I'm so sorry I didn't realize it was your birthday."

Karla just laughed, and shook her head. "Leda, please! Don't even worry about it. I'm sad you missed my party, though--it was during the weekend when we all turn into children. It was a lot of fun, filled with food and rides and elephants!"

Leda wondered if she'd turned into a kitten that weekend.

"Aw damn I missed elephants? And being Florida again? Stupid Fandom." She sighed. "I'm gonna miss this place."

"We'll miss you, too," Karla said, leaning over to give Leda a hug. "You ready to be Queen?"

Leda hugged her back tightly. "Ready or not, here I come." she said fatalistically. "I kinda feel like I can handle anything though. You know, after dealing with Fandom."

Karla though about it. "I dunno," she said dryly. "I kind of prefer rampaging alligators and syrup rain to entitled aristos with political agendas."

Leda grimaced. "You're right. Give me mutants and freaky invasions any day." Corwyn totally wigged her out. At least she could shoot or hit the bad guys Fandom threw at her. "You suppose it's too late to flunk enough classes to get held back?"

"Well, you were a cat for a month," Karla pointed out. "Missed finals and everything. If that can't do it, I'm pretty sure you're stuck."

"Aw I fooslishly handwavily made them up. This new work ethic of mine is going to get me into so much trouble."

"See? You should have been lazy and stayed behind instead," Karla teased. "Here. I guess I can relax my stance on cupcakes for that sad tale."
