The invite to the New Years Eve party had been surprising but timely. After all, he had a lot of friends to see and a lot of fun to have. The party, that was a little too public for him so he was staying to the dark corners of the streets ( Read more... )

Chuck wasn't really surprised when the Fandom New Year celebration was lacking in the excitement area. He was glad he came, but he was sort of disappointed that he was heading back to the hotel already. Maybe he'd stop by Caritas or something and bother Tino...

He didn't even notice Hannibal as he walked by since Chuck was, well, Chuck and didn't really notice anything that didn't have to do with himself half the time.

"Well, well, Chuck Bass," Hannibal said, finally finding someone interesting to pay attention to. He kept in the shadows and kept leaning against the wall.

"You've graced the island with your presence, I see. How lucky we are."

Chuck did not jump when Hannibal spoke. Shut up. He wasn't expecting it.

"Finally, someone who appreciates me," Chuck said, recovering from his scare quickly. "You should gives these new people a lesson in Chuck Bass 101. They don't know anything."

"Aww, and you're not taking anytime to educate them?" Hannibal asked, tsking. "Where's your sense of helpfulness?"

After notifying Mitchell (as she'd promised) that she was taking off, Kate cut her night at the party short. It wasn't even midnight yet, but she'd had her fair share of cocoa, and more than her fair share of talking to people, and she just wanted to be alone.

So here she was, walking down the street in her golden jacket. Alone.

In her defence, she really didn't expect Hannibal to be showing up on the island so soon, and not on New Year's Eve. Times Square was full of people, wasn't that like a vampire buffet?

Well, well, look at this. Hannibal couldn't really believe his luck. He pushed away from the wall and started following her, making sure he was quiet while he did.

He didn't want her to see him just yet. There'd be time for that.

Kate wasn't walking alone after dark ever after tonight, that was sure.

But for now, she was oblivious, just walking along with a moderate pace, wanting to get to her warm bed but not interested in rushing too much. She was humming some random tune under her breath, some Depeche Mode song she'd been listening to earlier.

Really, she was such an easy mark. So easy that Hannibal decided that he couldn't wait anymore. So, he made a noise behind her and then darted into the shadows.

Figuring she'd turn around to check the sound, he circled quickly around her, intending to end up in front of her when she turned around again.

It was amazing the way Dimitri was able to both survive a terrible fall into the Ob while impaled by a stake and still manage to show up in Fandom weeks later like nothing had ever happened. Vampiric regeneration was a wonderful thing.

As was the night vision that drew him to the figure in the shadows. "I remember you. Looking to scale a wall tonight?"

"Not today," he said, looking up (the dude was still so tall) at Dimitri. "Unless there's something good at the top of the wall that you think I should see?"

As he stepped closer, Dimitri picked up what was almost the scent of Strigoi...certainly not Moroi, but something similar. It was surprising, and meant that Dimitri had not found his evening snack in these shadows.

"What counts as good?" he inquired, drawing his long, leather duster closer. "Especially as it would draw us far from the party."

"Someone foolish," he said, shrugging and keeping his position against the wall.

Dimitri was a giant and Hannibal didn't want to try and do anything with him unless he had to. That would just be too much work and he was feeling an easy kill tonight.

"Preferably foolish and stupid," he added after a moment. "What counts as good to you?"

As the night grew later, it began to grow more cold, so Raven excused herself from the party to return to the dorms and change into something with a longer skirt and sleeves. She decided to walk to the edge of the park rather than teleport immediately, since there were visitors who might be startled if she suddenly disappeared in a poof of black smoke.

Well, there was someone he hadn't expected to see but all the better for him. He stayed where he was and called out, "Ballpit buddy!"

Oh yes, he remembered that.

Raven turned at the familiar voice. "Hannibal!" she said with a delighted smile. "It is good to see you. How have you been?" She began to move closer, pulling her cloak around her bare shoulders for warmth. This dress wasn't made for the cold.

"Oh, you know," Hannibal said, shrugging and pushing away from the wall to move closer to her. "I've been busy. I almost didn't make it down here but I'm glad I did."
