The invite to the New Years Eve party had been surprising but timely. After all, he had a lot of friends to see and a lot of fun to have. The party, that was a little too public for him so he was staying to the dark corners of the streets ( Read more... )

It was amazing the way Dimitri was able to both survive a terrible fall into the Ob while impaled by a stake and still manage to show up in Fandom weeks later like nothing had ever happened. Vampiric regeneration was a wonderful thing.

As was the night vision that drew him to the figure in the shadows. "I remember you. Looking to scale a wall tonight?"

"Not today," he said, looking up (the dude was still so tall) at Dimitri. "Unless there's something good at the top of the wall that you think I should see?"

As he stepped closer, Dimitri picked up what was almost the scent of Strigoi...certainly not Moroi, but something similar. It was surprising, and meant that Dimitri had not found his evening snack in these shadows.

"What counts as good?" he inquired, drawing his long, leather duster closer. "Especially as it would draw us far from the party."

"Someone foolish," he said, shrugging and keeping his position against the wall.

Dimitri was a giant and Hannibal didn't want to try and do anything with him unless he had to. That would just be too much work and he was feeling an easy kill tonight.

"Preferably foolish and stupid," he added after a moment. "What counts as good to you?"

"I like them young, pretty, and loud when they scream," Dimitri shared, lips curling in a smile that showed his fangs. Not being raised a Moroi, he wasn't very adept at hiding them, nor did he care to bother trying.

Well, this night had just gotten even more interesting than even Hannibal had imagined. Since Dimitri was showing off his goods, Hannibal was perfectly fine with grinning and showing off his own white fangs.

"I've enjoyed a few of the young and pretty ones so far," he shared, smiling widely now. "I tend to enjoy getting them to get on my dick before I kill them. It's more...degrading for them."

"Your standards are far too low," Dimitri replied, thinking it was clear Hannibal was far too young to be any level of threat. "Though I applaud you for playing with your food creatively. Some are so boring, barely stalking before striking."

"Standards?" Hannibal repeated, rolling his eyes. "How can there be standards on an island like this? Here, lowering your standards is necessary if you want a meal at all."

"Ugh, eating humans is a last resort. At least dhampirs have a little extra energy, even if the Moroi really do taste best. But then, I like a little power to my meal." Or to make Rose insane. Either way, Dimitri was happy.

"Unfortunately for me, all I have is humans where I'm from," he said, shrugged. "They're not all that bad but perhaps I'm just used to them. Humans struggle too, you know. It's so cute."

"Ineffectually," Dimitri scoffed. "It's hardly a challenge. You should have seen Rose. Her suffering was beauty in motion." Eh, let them think she was dead, it was more fun that way.

"You managed to bag Rose?" Hannibal said, impressed. "I bet that wasn't easy."

"It could have been easy, but I wanted it to be hard. For her." And for him, let's be real.

"Was it fun?" Hannibal asked, grinning slyly. "Was it memorable?"

Dimitri's grin widened evilly, despite Rose getting away. At least she'd helped him take over most of the Russian Strigoi in the process. "Of course. Shouldn't they all be...special?"

Hannibal shrugged a shoulder. "I think of some of them like fast food. Just a way to tide me over until I find one that I really like. I'm too impatient to make them all special."
