Beach between Galactica Point and the docks - Thursday Afternoon

Jun 03, 2010 19:44

It was still way, way too hot and Jake was overheated. He was definitely build for cold weather, not for warm, and water seemed to hold some reprieve from the heat. Once those thunderstorms came around, he was going to be dancing in them. For now, there was the ocean. Anyone who might have been looking towards Galactica Point at the right moment ( Read more... )

Beach between Galactica Point and the docks - Thursday Afternoon iknowstuff June 3 2010, 19:13:59 UTC
"Having fun?" Layla called out from her position on the beach. The position was her sitting on the beach and reading her ever present book.

Jake lifted his head and he must have been zoning out as he hadn't heard Layla approach. Not that he'd been really listening.

"I am," he called back, squinting as the sun blinded him. "You should try it."

"Jumping off Galactic point?" Layla said with a smirk as she looked up from her book. "I'll stick to just sticking my toes in the water. I'm not that reckless of a girl."

Unlike her double ganger and he shook his head. "Good, I wouldn't want to have to fish you out of the water," he told her. "You know what I meant. There's less chance of cracking your skull here."

It wasn't quite walking along the beach in New Zealand Greece, but it'd do even though there was a glaring lack of six feet of Warrior Princess walking beside her. (The lack was glaring. The Warrior Princess . . . might have been glaring too.) That wasn't stopping Gabrielle from rambling out loud to herself as she hiked along, staff in hand (because it didn't quite feel right otherwise) and the other hand waving in energetic, seemingly random gestures.

". . . but if flowers have feelings too, then what do you suppose they think about the way we interpret their significance? Maybe I should have asked. Maybe . . ."

She happened to turn and look out toward the water at that point and spotted Jacob, which put a nice stop to her possibly pointless pontificating.

"How's the water?" she called.

"Way way waaay better than the sand," he called back, he'd been trying not to laugh at the conversation she'd been having with herself. "And I think the flowers think we suck."

Oh, he could laugh. People tended to. Xena at least kept it to a silent but amused smirk, which from her was more potent than some people's outright guffaws. The point was, Gabrielle didn't mind.

"Don't put the sand down," Gabrielle teased him, shaking a finger in his direction. "There's something to be said for dry land, you know."

She tended to have bad boat experiences.

"Sure sure," he nodded in agreement. "When it cools down. Right now? This wins. Hands down."

Elena would never get tired of the beach. On cold days, you could bundle up and watch the water. On warm ones, there was sand and surf and sky.

"Is this spot taken?" she asked, picking a convenient patch of sand to flop down on.

(SP in effect! Running errands today zomg)

"Is now," he grinned at Elena. There was sand sticking to his back and his experiment of getting out of the water was quickly telling him it was a bad idea. "If you don't mind getting roasted."

He might have been exaggerating.

[SP for the win!]

"I can handle the heat," Elena laughed. "Unless you're talking about putting me on a spit over a fire. That, I'd have to fight you on."

Elena did not make a good roast pig.

"I think I suck at it," he admitted. He hadn't known, it was his first summer as a werewolf and so far he liked the snow blizzard better.

"And no, no roasting you. You don't have enough meat on your bones for it to be worth the hassle," he joked.

Jono was... out. Walking. Taking advantage of a day without classes to swing by in order to get the hell out of the cabin that was drowning in estrogen, thank you very much.

And, since there was bound to be some quiet stretch of beach somewhere out there, in spite of the ridiculous heat...

Jonothon's best-laid plans sometimes... weren't.

//Now there's an idea,// he mused, looking out toward the waves almost longingly. //How is it?//

No, he wasn't going in.

Strange how he didn't startle now, despite not having talked to Jono in a while. Maybe it was simple because Jacob hadn't felt this relaxed in ages.

"Awesome. I highly recommend it," he replied. As long as no one decided to go skinny dipping right in front of you. Okay, so that was kind of awesome too, but he wasn't going to admit that out loud. "I'm contemplating becoming a pirate."

Jono considered the water for a moment more, and then shrugged and simply took a seat on the beach. He could go in, only he was still wearing a good deal of leather, and didn't feel like attempting to save his bandages by leaving them behind.

//You are, are yer?// Well, okay, he'd shrug out of his jacket, at least. There was such a thing as too much leather, in this heat. //I dunno, mate. I don't think th'hat would suit you, really.//

"What? You don't think I could handle an eyepatch and a peg leg?" he asked with a snort. "The leg would be annoying, I'll give you that one."

He glanced at Jono and just looking at the leather was making him feel too hot. Never mind that the guy had a flame right under there. "Does it bother you more too? The heat?"
