It was still way, way too hot and Jake was overheated. He was definitely build for cold weather, not for warm, and water seemed to hold some reprieve from the heat. Once those thunderstorms came around, he was going to be dancing in them. For now, there was the ocean. Anyone who might have been looking towards Galactica Point at the right moment

"Having fun?" Layla called out from her position on the beach. The position was her sitting on the beach and reading her ever present book.

Jake lifted his head and he must have been zoning out as he hadn't heard Layla approach. Not that he'd been really listening.

"I am," he called back, squinting as the sun blinded him. "You should try it."

"Jumping off Galactic point?" Layla said with a smirk as she looked up from her book. "I'll stick to just sticking my toes in the water. I'm not that reckless of a girl."

Unlike her double ganger and he shook his head. "Good, I wouldn't want to have to fish you out of the water," he told her. "You know what I meant. There's less chance of cracking your skull here."

"Jacob Black, are you trying to lure me away from my book and into the water?" she asked with a wee tiny smirk.

That got a snort and he splashed some water in her general direction. "Yeah, pretty much. It's too hot to be reading."

"Fine," she said putting her book to the side. "But there's no ogling allowed."

Jacob raised an eyebrow and he turned upright, his feet finding the sandy underground. "How's that fair? It isn't like you're going to close your eyes."

"I'm sorry, do you wish to be covered by the ogling rule too?" Layla asked as she tossed her cover to the side with her book and began to wade into the water.

"Nah, I've got nothing to be ashamed off," he replied and really, neither did she. What? She hadn't really expected him not to look, did she? "See? Much better."

"Not all of us can have six pack abs and one percent body fat," Layla said with a playful splash in Jake's direction.

"Hey, don't hate me because I'm beautiful," he snorted and he wasn't going to bother trying to avoid that splash. Splashing was good, which'd be why she instantly got splashed back.

"And I don't exactly see anything wrong with you, so deal."

"Hmm. You live in a world where everyone is muscular and wears spandex or leather and then we'll talk," she said with a laugh as she spat out a bit of water from said splashing.

"Spandex's kind of daggy," he pointed out. "We've got more of jeans and half naked thing going. Way better."

"Hmm. That I can't argue with," Layla said now deep enough that she was treading water. "Though I can't attest to it with the no ogling rule."

He laughed. "Eh, they'd ogle you anyway," he pointed out. "It's not like any of them are modest."
