The Perk; Wednesday Afternoon

May 12, 2010 13:55

Chuck hadn't slept at all last night and found himself in desperate need for caffeine. The trouble with having no classes was that he had a hard time keeping track of what day it was and therefore completely forgot it was Wednesday. Which meant he completely forgot that today was when he usually visited Sam in the library. He'd remember eventually ( Read more... )

Sam had promised Raven that he'd talk to Chuck today, and he'd been assuming that would happen when Chuck came to visit him at work. When Sam's library shift came and went with no sign of Chuck, that meant Sam had to track him down himself, so he didn't look quite as happy as he could have when he finally found him. He sat down at Chuck's table without asking and watched him silently, wishing he could read minds. That would make things like this so much easier.

Chuck didn't even realize it was Sam sitting there at first, having been so lost in his own thoughts. When he did realize he was there, Chuck gave Sam a blank look for a moment before wincing when he remembered what day it was. "Oh fuck, it's Wednesday, isn't it?"

"Yeah, it is," Sam said, although the look he gave him was one of total concern and not annoyance. "What's going on with you? I was willing to let your mood on Saturday slide, but you've got Raven all freaked out thinking something's seriously wrong. Were you avoiding me today?"

"I told Raven to mind her own damn business," Chuck said, rubbing his forehead tiredly. "I'm not avoiding you, I just forgot what day it was. Having no classes is throwing me off."

Well, at least he wasn't being a complete liar at the moment.

A bit of exploring was in order for today. Now that Blackagar had become a bit more accustomed to the dorms and school, town was up next.

This seemed to just end up being wandering the streets aimlessly and then poking at the various wares of any business he happened to pass. Look, for someone who had never been outside of a soundproof chamber until, oh... about two weeks ago, it was thrilling on so many levels.

He walked up to the counter, sparing the rather morose looking man a friendly nod as he mostly just gawked. With dignity.

Really.

Chuck rolled his eyes. "Ugh, Humphrey, don't acknowledge me. People will think we're friends."

Blackagar looked from him to the overly perky barista and then back again before shaking his head. It certainly wasn't very kind of him to insult the poor servant like that. They all served a purpose, after all. He wasn't exactly sure what this one's was, but it had to be there, right?

Very rude, Chuck. Very rude indeed.

Goddamn, Chuck hated that judgmental little face. "What? Look, just because I let you sleep in my room when you were wee and cute doesn't mean we're gonna be BFFs."
