The block was a good block and blocked as blocking should.

Fiona turned the force to her elbow, then, and went for the Turtle's arm.

Turtle Wexler, she realized, you are so not a fighter. It took everything she had just to keep blocking, wincing the whole time until finally, before anything too much could happen she called out, "Okay, okay, I give!"

Of course, it was only after she said it that she remembered she had a free arm now and could have tried to punch back.

It was like flicking a switch.

Fiona pulled back and slipped off.

"Are you okay, Turtle?" she asked, offering a hand.

"I'm good!" Turtle assured her quickly, although the wideness of her eyes might suggest a bit otherwise. Still, she took Fiona's hand to help her to her feet. "Going to Miss Atreides first thing next week for some good ways to get out of a pin, but other than that, I'm good."

And then she paused, a little awkwardly. "Sorry I couldn't offer more of a fight."

She shook her head quickly and gave Turtle a shy smile. She actually looked a little drained.

"You did good. At least, I think so."

Turtle smiled a little at that. "Thanks. You're pretty strong and quick. And I've got a long way to go before I'm as good at hand-to-hand as I am with a gun."

"My Uncle Aaron pretty much said I'm not allowed to touch them," she admitted.

"How long have you been practicing with one?"

"It's been...a while now," Turtle said, frowning as she tried to think. "I got it for my fifteenth birthday; hated the thing. Didn't want anything to do with it, but then..." She sucked in a breath. "The academics here might not be the best, but the experiences teach you more than anything. Let's just say I realized that, even if I hate it, it's a way to protect myself when I have to. And I'm a pretty good shot by now, if I say so myself."

She didn't say anything for a moment.

"I never did anything more than elbow my brother a little before my fifteenth birthday," she told Turtle, "and then some stuff happened. I get what you mean. But I'm glad you can defend yourself."

Fiona gave Turtle a smile.

"Thanks for the fight."

Hoo boy. Well, at least Dinah knew that her roomie wouldn't stay hurt? And she'd forgive her for some of the damage?

"You ready?"

"Ready as I'm gonna be," Claire said. At least Dinah knew about her abilities and wouldn't freak if she randomly healed.

Then again, Dinah could very likely kick her ass.

"Powers on, powers off?" Dinah asked, pulling on her sparring gloves, and pointing to herself. "We can do this just like a normal spar this week if you want."

"Well... I can't turn mine off," Claire said, pulling on her protective gear. "But a normal spar would be good, if you don't mind."
