Sky came in sometime after class and visiting Bridge but before getting his Squishy and paintball, smiling, and took a seat. The diner was on his places to visit list from when he'd gotten a good look around town as a sparkleball, but he'd never gotten around to it. But today? Today was his birthday, so he was going to indulge.

"Hi there!" Lacey had her order pad in one hand and a pot of coffee in the other as she drifted over to where Sky was sitting. "What can I get you today?"

Lacey flailed a little, since she hadn't actually gotten around to coming up with a dessert menu and couldn't give him an impressive list.

"Uh," she said, "well, there's some crispy apple tarts that I made this morning, plus some fruit salad and we could fix you up a sundae or a banana split if that's what you feel like."

Sky thought briefly about the banana split, remembered where he was going to be working all day tomorrow, and changed his mind.

"An apple tart sounds wonderful," he said. "And a cup of tea to go with it, please, if you have any."

"Do I have any tea!" That was said in the sort of tone that's meant to be teasing but comes out with just a grating, if unintentional, hint of condescenscion.

Out came a small pot of hot water -- and the large metal rack of tea selections she'd stocked just that morning, landing on the table in front of Sky with a little bit of a metallic ring.

"Take your pick," Lacey said cheerfully, "and I'll be right back with that apple tart."
