The 2007 Fandom Film Festival, The Park, Friday afternoon

Jun 01, 2007 01:32

The Park was set up for movies. There were chairs, blankets for the grass, popcorn, soda, judges, and - most importantly - movies.

Also importantly, there was a sign announcing that this was the 2007 Fandom Film Festival. Because it's not a real festival until there's a banner.

For some reason, GOB Bluth was your MC.

Sabriel was looking forwards to finding out if films here were the same thing as in her world.

Karal was not entirely sure why he was here, but he was, looking a bit baffled by the whole thing. Given that he didn't actually know what a film was, the bafflement really wasn't that surprising.

The judges sit at a table. They can be pestered here. Or talk amongst themselves. Whatever.

[OOC: Judges, if you received an e-mail form me on Thursday, break out your approved journals and go to town!]

Two old crotchety men were seated at the table talking to each other.

"Whose idea was this again?"

"The frog!"

"I thought this was a paid vacation!"

"More like a paid vacate-tion!"

"Well, it's better than the theater!"

"Well, it's as good as the theater."

"Actually, it's not as great as the theater."

"It's way worse than the theater!"

"This place is terrible!"

"It's horrible!"

"Take me home!"

"No, you take me!"

"Wait, I think there's free food."

"Nevermind!"

"Excuse me, did you say ... free food?" The fat and crudely animated guest judge was hovering nearby excitedly. "My stomach and I are intrigued by this notion and wish to hear more."

Setsuna took a tentative bow to the audience. "I didn't say much on the film when it first debuted," in fact, she hadn't said anything, "but it has aged a year and my English is much better now, so I just hope you all enjoy it and that those of you who have been here as long as I have, or longer, appreciate the nostolgia, because many of the fine people featured in this film have moved on from Fandom High, but we all know they'll always be in our hearts and minds."

"Thank you."

...So much for 'a few words.'

Artoo rolled to the front of the stage and let out a long and complicated series of beeps and whistles, talking about his inspiration and how no one should ever, ever call him a tiger again.

Luke, blushing to his ears, translated it loosely as "Gremlins are real, they're a menace and if you do something stupid, for the Force's sake, don't do it around Artoo."

Melody performed a drum fill before standing to introduce the film. "Okay, so ... this is about my band and our first tour and how we got to be rock stars, and it's about how you need to be friends and never, ever give up, even when evil executives try to kill you. I hope you like it!"

She clapped like a 3-year-old before taking a seat.
