Josh stepped towards the podium with the envelope in his hand and cleared his throat.

"Okay people?" He blew a sharp whistle into the microphone. "Everyone shut up!"

He looked around. "Thanks. We've got results! From the junior class, junior prince is...." he glanced down at the paper. "Samuel Anders. Junior princess is....Isabel Evans." That name he knew, so he smiled.

"And your prom king and queen....Jack Harkness and Alanna Trebond!"

Josh's grin split his face. "Congratulations to all of you!"

He didn't even have to stuff the ballot box like he promised Isabel that he would.

Valentine was here for the punch, and he was going to stay for the punch. The fact that he was starting to get a little tipsy and he had lost his large hat somewhere meant nothing.

It was still good punch.

Sam looked around for Kawalsky, assuming this was his contribution to the festivities and torn between whether to thwap him or hide until the song was over.

Said dark corner-- in Parker's case, anyway-- being between the pond and the dance floor, near one of the Venice street backdrops. The fairy lights threw a shadow over where she was sitting on one of the folding chairs, carefully sipping a glass of punch.

John Meyer's "Gravity" was playing. And yes, there was moping. Curling up as small as possible, so as not to be noticed. And no watching of the dance floor, with happy couples; or the gondolas, with even more. Just looking at the fake Venice backdrops, and wishing herself two thousand miles across the country.

Parker looked up to see Irulan, and restrained the urge to say 'Get your own dark corner.' After Irulan didn't notice her for several minutes, though, curiosity and resignation caught up with her. "Irulan? You don't want to dance?"
