Oh, I guess because he's all secretly vulnerable and sweet under it all--he actually wants to help people and be noble, but he's also cocky and swagger-y, and while it's annoying, confidence is also sexy. And it's awesome to see him get pwned by strong women, like Natasha (ScarJo notwithstanding).

Have to agree.

Yes, the good old "secretly vulnerable" trope. We all have seen it in various movies and shows, know it's there to get our sympathies, but it never ceases to work.

It's like when you know how an optical illusion works, but that knowledge doesn't stop the illusion from tricking your eyes.

One word: Redemption. I mean I can only speak for myself, but besides RDJ just being hot, I love how he was broken and decided to change how he conducted his business/life. He can't change everything overnight or everything little thing, but he saw the light and made some VERY risky changes. Changes that were more difficult and important than just not being a rich party boy. Whore bag? Yep. Bastard? Not by a long shot. Stane was a bastard. Did we even watch the same movie?

Exactly.

Eh, that's kinda why I like him. Not the mysoginist part, although I don't think that word really applies to him. He might be a tad bit sexist, but if you were surrounded by women who wanted to sleep with you because you were rich, you probably would be, too.

I read today that being a huge playboy and "conquering women" is a way for him to redeem his masculinity, because losing his autonomy as an inventor was an emasculating experience for him.

Aww! I can see that. He also clearly has issues with self-control, overindulgence, and self-esteem. So he's pretty screwed, poor baby.

How is he misoygnist exactly?
He is an arrogant rich bastard, but he tries to use his money and talent to help people at least.

Why do women like him...? Because he's pretty and rich and a superhero? I'd do him. I wouldn't marry him or put him on a white horse or expect him not to be kind of a dick, but I'd have a happy meaningless fling with hot sex and expensive presents.
Shellow? Yes. But pragmatic.

Well, he's one of those characters you'd really hate if he were a real guy, but that as fictional is awesome. Kinda like Ben Linus ^^

Or Greg House?

Or Wolverine. Can you imagine living with him? Sure he's hot and noble and broodily tortured, but you'd be under constant threat of surprise ninja death.
