I feel like I've forgotten how to participate in fandom, or that the ways it happens now have zoomed past me, or that I just don't feel the impulse to participate anymore, just to watch. Maybe all of the above

What you wrote here is exactly how I feel. Sometimes I almost feel guilty for abandoning fandom like that. But I'm busy rearing a child and preparing getting back to work... there's just no time for fandom, and I hardly miss it - most of the time, that is.
